I love those videos of men trying on the menstrual cramp simulation machines. They couldn’t even handle it on the lowest setting. I’d love it if all male bosses had to try one of those before considering giving women time off for cramps!
because there is no business or company in Spain who is actually doing this how it sounds. You would have to call in sick every month if that makes sense its not 'a right' there are consequences.
I CANT BELIEVE WE STILL FIGHT FOR MINIMAL HEALTHCARE IN THE " GREATEST NATION" THE US ALSO TREATS WOMEN LIKE CATTLE.
Absurd, isn't it? If white American males experienced this, the 3-days leave would have been initiated much sooner. And no, I don't dislike men. Just saying.
Load More Replies...Ahh yes, recognizing that most of the power in America is held by white men. How dare you!
If men could get pregnant, then Starbucks would be giving abortion pills on different flavors for free with a cup of coffee. All paid by the government unanimously approved by both parties.
Sorry, Amanda. I assure you, I’m not racist, just pointing out that the aforementioned group holds the most power in business, politics, and government.
It's true! There are very few people who are not white in politics in America.
Rosie Cat has written two heart emojis - they sometimes show as question marks in the app. Just for info. You bothered to explain so I thought I would too :)
Ugh I wish Canada did this! I have PCOS so it makes my monthly miserable. I'm happy that I do run regular, unlike the majority of PCOS people, but boy is it miserable. So much pain those first 2 days and such a heavy flow I hate even leaving the house out of fear of leaking thru. Makes it a miserable few days a month at work. I go, but I don't move. I find if i sit still the cramps are not as bad.. probably because im so focused on breathing and getting through each cramp.
I too have PCOS so I sympathize with you. I'm in America and even tho we have a thing called FMLA that is supposed to protect you from being fired from your job when you need medical leave, you gotta jump thru hoops to get it, visit docs-which usually requires time off, have them fill out paper work, you gotta fill out paper work, go thru the chain of command explaining over and over to each boss, usually more paper work each meeting, then usually a meeting with the job's HR and c then after all that, if- IF they decide that they can accommodate you, any time you actually call off using said FMLA, you get backlash for not being reliable etc. It's a nightmare. Smh
Load More Replies...They've set up booths and men volunteered to experience period pain (using electrodes) that many women have to work and raise families while experiencing. Grown men just sitting on a chair were doubled over with tears in their eyes trying to white knuckle through it! Their compassion and understanding of women went through the roof!!
Considering cramps are your womb muscles contacting to get rid of the unused baby bed and expel the tissue, I'm wondering what muscles those electrodes are cramping up? Although I guess giving your stomach muscles a charley horse could be close, but it sure doesn't hit your back or make you want to puke.
Load More Replies...Maybe not you, but I experienced cramps like that regularly. I finally had to have a hysterectomy at 40 years old because the pain was unbearable and I was dangerously anemic. Consider yourself lucky that your reality was so different from mine.
I'm all for folks getting to experience the pain, but I wonder this too. A quick search says it just focuses on abdominal cramps that are "similar"? I guess I'd have to test one myself to see how similar - and I would like to test one. Give me a scale to put my pain on.
That's exactly what they did. Numerous women tested the electrodes until it equated what they experienced each month and then the men could feel what different women felt.
Various women test it until it equals what they individually experience and then the men try to handle the different levels.
i kinda wanna ngl. i get really bad leg cramps (yes i know it's different) and it hurts like hell, i kinda wanna know if it's painful like cramps usually are for me, or if it just kinda makes things worse but not THAT painful. oh, and when i say bad, i mean i physically cannot walk. so... I dunno man i also just kinda like pain. it hurts, but after a while it's kinda fun
If the shoe was on the other foot we would've had this for soooo damn long by now
I used to live there and can attest that it's a wonderful country.
While this is a good idea, I think this will just motivate Spanish companies to not hire women because they know they will be required to give them 3 days of leave per month.
If you're a man that's never had to work around a bunch of crabby chicks when it's their time of the month you'll never understand how important this is.
In Monotone: "Ow oh god I'm in such pain going through my period Boss: but you're a dude, dude Me: F*ck.
That is amazing and cool. My country (US) treats employees like c**p and like they're irrelevant and their personal lives don't matter. Pay is low, benefits are not legality mandated, most employers don't even offer paid maternity leave. You use up all your vacation and sick time (if you even get any of either) and then, after this 2-4 weeks are up, if you start home longer, which is better for mom and baby, it's with no pay. Some mothers in this country hands to go back to work within days of giving birth. So the fact tasty they offer this in Spain is phenomenal!
Nice to see some place respecting woman. Good on you Spain.
Cn like all women just kinda move to Spain or better yet allow this every where lol
Just wanted to throw in that if you are experiencing excruciating pain during those special days you should definitely check it out. Could be harmless cysts that cause the pain nevertheless. They can be treated fairly well so that the symptoms will become much, much better after treatment.
it should be just 'sick leave', as somebody without menstrual pains i'd totally use it for my migraines
You'd think companies would rally to make it easier for women to get contraceptives for this specific reason. But that costs money. And this would lose them money. Capitalism sucks.
I remember working and going to get a blood transfusion after work. The US has got to change.
Soooo, is this retroactive?? All the days I showed up for work at that time... for 40+ years...
Hell yes, I have endo, I am lucky that I am able to control it without surgery as many can't, but my doctor recommends a break from my routine every few years. This was one of those years, and it's been literal hell 2 weeks out of every 4. And I've had to work through it all to save my sick leave for when I need domestic leave. Thank goodness for working from home more often as it meant I could cry and die in between meetings, and didn't have to drive (because I couldn't with all the pain relief I had to take).
So that's about 14% of the time. So they work about 86% of the time.
Can I upvote several times? I always said if men got their periods, it would be illegal to make them work those three days a month! Yay!
wtf, first of all, Im not sure if your legit just joking or if your actually a bastard. Women for YEARS more than that honey centuries have complained about menstrual pains. And, finally, after a long time of wrong information, women are starting to learn how their body works. And even though we may know how it works, there isn't a man that I've met in my lifetime that actually knows what it is, actually knows what a uterus is or why we bleed. And yall need to know this stuff! If you are about to have sex, and your girl tells you that she is on her period and doesn't want to, what are you going to do? Guilt trip her into sex (that's f*****g rape guys, get it right. Not consent.) or are you going to get mad at her, ruining the vibe yall ever had, or are you going to man the f**k up and say ¨thats okay babe, want some tyllenol?¨ And second of all, how dare you. How dare you make such a joke that slaps millions of women in the world in the face. And you might have not known what that joke meant to every woman (biological, nonbinary, trans, every woman.) on this site. Women in Spain, finally have the chance for a break, and you want to use your crack a*s masculinity as a shove to the people who worked so f*****g hard to get this law passed? Wtf
Load More Replies...That did not escalate, it shot through the roof in an instant. Do you really think reacting like this will convince people to support the matter?
Don’t take it so hard, it’s not a d**k. Also, if you’ve never once met a man who knows what a uterus is or why you “bleed”, you’re obviously hanging with the wrong people. It’s not like it’s some big secret only women know.
Holy s**t, Hadesdaughter. I've been menstruating for 36 years now with pretty debilitating PMS. Will you please not speak in my name when you talk about "every woman on this site"? Thank you very much.
Women work twice as hard every other day of the month so there's that.
Load More Replies...Catchy slogan but seriously this will only encourage business owners to hire men over women cause they won't need to give them extra paid leave.
Are you really comparing getting hit in the crotch to periods?
And if you were a female of a fertile age, I'd be more inclined to support this ridiculous claim of yours.
Load More Replies...And if he thinks having the schnits are a reason to call out of work, wait until he learns about period poops!
Ever since the 'Yup That Exists' Instagram account was founded in 2014, it has grown into an extremely popular project focusing on equally brilliant and perplexing inventions, odd gadgets, unusual product designs, and intriguing phenomena appearing across the web. And still, many people had absolutely no clue they existed in the first place.
The project has branched out to all the major social media channels and gained a strong foothold on various platforms. For instance, it has amassed over 722k followers on Facebook and 426k devoted fans on Instagram. It has even gained astonishing popularity on TikTok, where more than 572k people eagerly wait for new surprises to grace their feeds.
'Yup That Exists' continues to entertain and teach every design enthusiast by consistently uncovering intriguing products. The creators prove that weirdness sells, especially when paired with interesting tidbits of information, and it wins over the hearts of thousands of internet users.
We've witnessed a million times that the internet is filled with seemingly endless amounts of knowledge and facts that consistently educates and inspires us. In this vast digital world, it’s hard to be aware of every new innovation, and we often miss the brilliant things that exist unless we come across them. So this vivid collection of pictures is meant to remind you that innovation is everywhere, you just have to keep your eyes open.
This social media project also shows that the global marketplace is a packed, noisy sphere. Consumers have plenty to choose from. And the creators, well, they see that competition is fierce. In this sense, designers believe they must craft and build products that stand out to succeed in this chaos.
A brief scroll through this list will prove that designers can achieve their goal and create memorable works of art — even if they stand out like a sore and unappealing thumb. See, some creators get too focused on developing an original end product that form and function become more of an afterthought than a necessary part of the development process.
In theory, design thinking means approaching innovation by drawing from the designer’s toolkit to cater to the client's needs. Design should follow you around even if you’re unaware of it. If it's good, you don’t pay much attention to it. If it’s outstanding— the item will probably become your new favorite item.
I am already making a list of all the stuff I'm gonna buy when I'm older
I think I remember some guy that does this with legos and crumbling buildings, does anyone else?
To achieve this, it all starts with an idea. Of course, coming up with innovative and meaningful solutions is far from an easy task. But when designers manage to devise the next big thing, the first element to be sure about is what it will offer to your future user.
"You have to answer the questions, why should my idea exist and how is it defined? Then you can start thinking about the identity and the representation of that product", Brian Farrell, founder and creative director of Far Co, a creative studio specializing in digital branding, digital products, and systems, told BBVA Open Innovation. The expert added that throughout the design process, it’s essential not to lose sight of the "heart of the idea". If you believe in the concept to its very core, and your customer will too, that’s a recipe for success.
Once you have outlined your idea, it’s time to take action. One of the most important considerations to keep in mind is that you’re designing something for the end users, not for yourself. "If you can’t fully identify yourself with their needs and challenges, they’re not going to see any value" researcher Ethan Parry added. To do this, we can’t just sit back, we "have to go out into the street and learn from users" by observing and learning from them passively.
Another crucial mistake would be to focus only on aesthetics. "It won’t fix a useless product, however well designed it is — if it doesn’t solve a problem, it won’t be of any use," Parry explained. Then, remember to re-evaluate the situation and adjust it as it changes, and document every bit of your process. "This is of particular importance if you’re an entrepreneur, to have a foundation for the future."
It’s challenging for designers to devise a great idea that will shock the market and change the world. For example, in 1889, Charles H. Duell was the Commissioner of the US patent office. He is widely quoted as having stated that the patent office would dry up and, consequently, no longer be needed because: "Everything that can be invented has been invented."
Yet, with science, technology and lifestyle drastically changing, this leaves room for creativity and opportunity. And as you can see from this list, innovative designers still manage to invent something to surprise us.
Just think about the myriad of innovations that have happened since the 19th century, from planes to computers to those little powerful devices lying right there in our pockets.
"Skype, Google, Teams and Webex are some examples of popular applications. But suddenly, a new company — Zoom — finds a better way of doing things, turns the user experience around, and becomes the industry leader," Anxo López, Design manager at BBVA, said. And we hope there’s still plenty more to come.
Great when you've got a power surge and you need to go looking for that one flashlight in your toolbox. 👍
I loved a lot of these. Don't be bored so easily, guys - a lot of these are just little joys that give you a tiny spark in your dull everyday. (Except the baseball cap thing. That's just creepy 🙃
Republican dating site is a bad idea. We do not want them to breed.
I'm pretty sure 90% of the users will be batshit crazy white men, so the risk of them successfully breeding is rather low.
