This Extra-Wrinkly Evil-Looking Cat Is Actually Very Lovely (30 Pics)
Interview With OwnerHairless skin, wrinkles from head to toe, a judgemental frown, and a cold stare that pierces your soul—this is what has won Xherdan the naked cat the title of world's scariest cat. Not exactly the nickname you would wish for a pet knowing that cats are the most loved and appreciated animals on the internet. And while this sphynx might not fit the standards of what an adorable cat appears like and makes you go "aww," looks can be very deceiving. Xherdan might look like a villain who's plotting the evilest plan, but the bald cat is actually a total sweetheart!

When Xherdan's hooman, Sandra Filippi, 47, saw the 12-week-old, pink, wrinkly creature, it was love at first sight. Now a six-and-a-half years old, the Canadian sphynx from Rüti in Switzerland is stealing hearts on the internet.
"His wrinkled pink skin as fine as a peach, his turquoise eyes as blue as the ocean… I was in love!" Filippi told Bored Panda about her first encounter with her unusual cat friend. Filippi says that most people are intimidated by Xherdan in the beginning, but then they quickly fall in love after realizing what a sweet boy the unique animal actually is.
Filippi is a mom of two more Don sphynx cats of Russian origin, who, compared to Xherdan, are thinner, less wrinkly, and have different eyes. "Sphynxes should always be kept in close contact with other sphynx cats, otherwise they will wither away," said Filippi. But the company Xherdan enjoys the most is his hoomans—he's by their side at all times asking for attention and cuddles. "He is like a child and his personality is very lovely," Filippi shared. Some of his favorite activities besides eating and napping include bird-watching and talking in all sorts of different pitches.
Sphynx cats are literally naked, and despite being a dream for people who hate fur everywhere or are allergic cat-lovers, the lack of hair makes them actually pretty high-maintenance. Xherdan needs regular baths and basic grooming such as nail clipping, as well as eye and ear cleaning. Even though caring for a sphynx can be demanding work, his unconditional love and playfulness make up for this.
“He makes me and other people laugh all the time and that’s the most beautiful thing there is. I am so incredibly proud. He is just so unique," said Filippi.
Since Xherdan started sharing his "nudes" on Instagram and gained 31.2k followers, people have been comparing him to various objects, unusual animals, and body parts, such as the brain, a dumpling, a grandma, a pig, or an alien—the creativity goes far and beyond. But the bullying has to stop, because despite the common perception of sphynx as odd and eerie, animals, just like people, are all unique and worthy of love, and this oddly cute cat is here to prove it.
Is she in any pain? Special baths to get in all the nooks and crannies?
Such a poor little kitty. He doesn't even have whiskers. This is just animal cruelty. I'm glad it's forbidden in Germany to breed cats without whiskers. Besides they freeze when it gets colder and they can easily get a sunburn. Why do we do that to creatures we love?
Can we please stop promoting people who buy animals that were bred to be disabled ON PURPOSE? Noseless cats, hairless cats, basically legless cats...And those idiots actually pay a lot of money for them SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE OF THEIR DISABILITIES. They are rewarding breeders for bringing disabled animals into this world. The cat is still cute because all cats are cute, but the people behind this are disgusting.
No and no again. This is against everything a cat should look like. This cat is not happy nor healthy. Stop breeding these abominations.
Please encourage the owner to discuss the possibility (likelihood) that this cat has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.. Both humans and animals can get EDS..I know and while I don't look quite like him.. i do have very soft 'foldy' skin.. (think Shar Pei in dogs, they have EDS, which is a heritable connective tissue disorder where the (defective) collagen causes a variety of symptoms as well (in some types) exhibits visible differences..
I am so, so sorry to people who are reading this.. but that cat looks like ground beef
All (non-shaved) hairless mammals are the result of mutation. In wildlife, it's a counter-survival trait. In domesticated animals, specifically pets, it's a trait breed for aesthetic reasons (not that I agree with it, just a recognition of it), but the mutation was still the cause. You can't breed for a genetic trait unless it's there to begin with.
Looks more like a grumpy old man rather than a scary villain, so friggen cute
They are very intelligent. Most likely the smartest breed of cat. Is not animal cruelty what is cruel is that you are looking at this creature like it is pathetic these guys are awesome I actually know one that is a therapy cat certified licensed he has a better job than most of you as a psychologist. The cat is there in every session and he helps quite a bit. Oh animal cruelty wah wah boo hoo! So what do you propose? We exterminate them? A sphinx was born naturally in Canada. It mated and this is its result I had nothing to do with cruelty or breeding for that purpose you morons get your head out of your asses and check into reality. It’s a genetic mutation. So are you saying that people born with a disease alopecia is abuse lol it’s a genetic mutation dummies
I love cats and I'm glad it's loved but you can't get around the fact it's hideous. People that perpetuate these mutations don't give a damn about the animals misery as long as they can make money. Breeders of these cats deserve some kind of inquisition style torture.
Oh sweet divine jaysus! That cat is so sinister and threatening in every photo. Except for #14, what is going on in #14?
