In Englsh, the first number to have an 'a' is 'one hundred and one'. In American English, it is 'one thousand'.

False. 101 is the first number with the letter A. I would also like to see the study that compares humans and giraffes when it comes to the probability of being struck by a lighting.

Good grief! My inner grammar-demon is sobbing after reading these questions. "5. Dolphins can hold their breath longer than sloths." I didn't even know that dolphins can hold sloths. "8. Even though giraffes are taller, they are less likely to get hit by lightning than humans." Taller than what? And how often do humans hit giraffes? "9. Mercury is the only planet that spins clockwise." As seen from where? "13. Egypt has more pyramids than any country in the world." '...than does any *other* country'. "15. The correct term for the dash symbole" Symbol. A symbole is something entirely different. "17. Salvador Dalí is the designer of the Chupa Chups logo." *Was* the designer. "20. Not a single number before 1,000 contains the letter 'A' in its spelling." First, there are only nine *single* numbers; 1-9. Second, in which language? French has quatre (4). EDIT: Oh dear, I seem to have triggered the usual downvoting idiots.

8) The comparison with humans is at the end of the sentence. I think that one is okay. 9) There are astronomical standards. The sun rising in the west is what counts as clockwise. It's as seen from the top, or north pole. 20) More than one meaning. If they said "not one number" you'd complain about 2, 3, 4 etc! At least they didn't put an apostrophe in "its", be thankful for that.

I counted in Spanish, cuatro, so 4 and I can hum while pinching my nose but it makes my ears hurt.

Tripped up by the giraffe one by overthinking it. I figured human behavior makes them more likely to be hit by lightning than a giraffe... but I guess if were both nearby each other in a field, the giraffe would be more likely to be hit.

Even though this article is in English, it should probably mention that before thousand there's no letter a in English (written) numbers. The article makes it sound that it includes every language on earth, and it truly sounds much less impressive when you realise that most of other languages contadict this. First number having an "a" in Finnish is 8 (or 0 if that counts).

quentariel, in English, there most definitely is an 'a' in 'one hundred and one'. It is not present in American English, where it is rendered 'one hundred one', without the 'and'.

All fruits are vegetables. A fruit is the ripened ovary of a plant whereas a vegetable refers to any edible part. Thus all fruits are considered vegetables.
