Men Laugh After Granddaughter Is Forced Out Of Business, Beg Her To Return As Everything Fails
Recognition comes in many forms. One of which is being trusted with responsibility. And after supposedly spending years in her grandpa’s company, Reddit user ScallionTop7000 wanted it more than anything.
However, when the man passed away, his will revealed it wasn’t going to happen. While her male relatives were assigned important roles and shares of the business, the woman was excluded from any significant involvement, receiving neither a leadership position nor a stake in the venture. As she claimed online, all because of her gender.
This woman said she dedicated long years of her life to her grandfather’s business

The Western world is moving forward. In 1999, only three large public companies in the US were headed by women; ten years later that number increased to 15.
In 2023, women held 10.4% of leadership positions at Fortune 500 companies. (There were a total of 52 women running businesses on the Fortune 500 list, an all-time high.)
But at that time, women represented around 58% of the US workforce and only held 35% of senior leadership positions.

In 2023, a majority of Americans (55%) said were too few women in top executive business positions. Americans see many factors as to why this is, such as:
- Women having to do more to prove themselves than men (58% say this is a major reason);
- Gender discrimination (50%);
- Family responsibilities (48%);
- Many businesses not being ready to hire women for these positions (43%);
- Sexual harassment creating an environment that makes it harder for women to succeed (40%).
And people aren’t very optimistic about the future, either. Half believe that even as more women move into management roles, men will continue to hold more of these top positions.
While you might agree or disagree about the elements contributing to this disparity, one thing is clear: sadly, merit alone is not always enough to break through corporate or, in this case, even familial barriers.

Personally I'd start my own business with the skills I learned there, and keep in touch with the employees I had a good connection with, in order to invite them to come work for me. When you were working for the company I hope you were appropriately compensated for all the various responsibilities you handled , for your value to the company, for your rôle in its success. & Now the crybaby men are failing miserably & want your help thru this "rocky patch." Even if they gave you the most generous compensation package you could dream up - including the 51% ownership some posts recommended, they'd continue to be trouble & thorns in your side. Same thing if you came to an agreement on how much you'd be paid as a consultant. She says she did not receive anything related to the business, so what did she get as an inheritance? The family is all a bunch of AHs, but if she received a lot of money or valuable property she should be ok.
Is this a recent story? Who still behaves that way? And can't she send the will into probate, especially since he put the blatant sexism in writing? She has proof she ran the company, how can men still do this nowadays? If you leave a single child out of the will, that child can contest it. I'd do it, and if I won, my family members wouldn't even be janitors.
Apparently, the will has already been probated since the men are running the company. She could have contested it while probate was still open, maybe if there was any indication that grandfather was subjected to undue influence from one or more of these male geniuses, or could have sued the estate, but the outcome surely wouldn't have given her controlling interest in the company. She could now sue the company but I can't quite come up with the grounds. Not wrongful termination since she wasn't fired. Hostile workplace? I expect a good wills & estates attorney, in conjunction with one specializing in employment & labor law could figure out something (costing her $$$$$$) but it would seem she might want to just close that chapter of her life & move forward.

I am in agreement that the best justice would be for her to start a business competing with Grandpa's, hire away all their experienced people, and put it out of business.

Starting a competing business is not wise. It's wrought with legal trouble and will only continue the confrontation with her family. Does she need a stigma and bad rumors following her around for the rest of her career? Life is not a novel or a movie. Best course of action is to take her expertise and knowledge to start something new. If she was as indispensable as she described, then she will be back on her feet in less than 5 years and have enough money to be independent from her family. Proving she didn't need to be given a handout to be successful.
