Bride Cancels Photographer For $3200 Because She Found Someone For $50, Regrets Her Decision And Asks Them To Do A Photoshoot For Free
Time and again we hear stories about choosing beggars, the kind of people who feel entitled to getting things for free. This story about one such person comes from a professional photographer, which doesn’t come as surprise, having in mind how many weird and often delusional requests photographers receive on a daily basis.
“The client booked me for a wedding at $3200 – this is a full package,” the Redditor u/cricoff shared a screenshot of a story on the Choosing Beggars subreddit. The post said that the bride then found someone else who was only charging $50 for wedding photos, so she ended up canceling the professional and losing her deposit.
Understandably, the bride was less than happy with the result of the $50 photoshoot. But the only person she blamed for the poor result was the professional whom she canceled prior.
If that doesn’t make much sense, it’s fine, because it kind of doesn’t. Scroll down to see how the story ended below, and let us know what you think of the incident in the comments.
A pro wedding photographer shared how the client canceled him for another photographer who only charged $50, but after receiving terrible photos, blamed him for not stopping her

And this is how people reacted to the whole situation
Reply that you are sorry and happy to oblige but you'll have to send an assistant. Now, hire the $50 photographer and send him to do the shooting.
Let's Say i booked something for 3200$ and then found a bargain... This would never be for 50$. 50$ for something that was supposed to be 3200$ is going to look as cheap as it cost and if I was willing to pay 3200$, it means that I wasn't going for cheap.
I've seen this in the mortgage industry. People can shop, but it should all be close, there are some "to good to be true" lenders that will never fund a loan
Load More Replies...I'm still trying to weed through the logic of how it was your fault that she chose to cancel and go with someone else... Feel sorry for the new husband. Things look to get wacky.
She sounds like someone who has to blame others for her bad decisions. She wouldn't have listened to you if you tried to talk her out of it anyway. She might have given you a hard time about your work. You owe her nothing other than telling her that you are not responsible for her bad decisions.
OP had a contract and she cancelled it. After that no more interaction from your side is required. Either ignore her, or tell her to f**k off.
The photographer should just tell her, "You, as the consumer, decided to go with another provider. Sorry, but the customer is always right."
Umm you wanted cheap you got cheap not my problem you canceled, move on, Next !
How did she cancel services with someone and expect them to give her references or warn her or whatever? That is not her job!! Lmao! This girl is CRAZY
You have every right to charge a non refundable deposit. You could have taken another $3,200 job which is a bargain as I know couples pay upwards of $5,000. You have to protect your professional reputation. She got what she paid for and you owe her nothing, not even a warning when she told you that she found someone for $50.00!! Like the old saying, if you buy a diamond ring for ten cents, you have a ring that isn’t worth a dime.
5k, That is still on cheap side. There are so many more paying upward of 20k these days. Yea, that is not a typo. Everyhting else you said, facts straight up.

This is a self inflicted wound on their part. She paid $50 and got a $50 job. No sympathy here. She should have stuck with the professionals if doing it right the first time matters. You owe this cheapskate nothing. Not sorry.
Send her link to the reddit post and asknif she did something like this to other photographers as well since you're not the op of that post. Step 2, get some popcorn and wait for the meltdown mail.
i would have offered to do the Newlywed session at whatever normal fee is, but due to the circumstances require that it be paid in full up front.
What part of "$50 photo shoot" didn't trigger the BS alarm in her head???
"My services for short notice go from $3,200 to $5,500. Again, with a non-refundable deposit."
I was a wedding photographer for many years. Sadly this doesn't surprise me. When digital became big, anyone with a camera was suddenly a "professional photographer." They would charge a quarter what I charged with my formal training and15 years of experience. And the brides! One bride said she was going to sue me for $100 and my indemnification insurance said to just pay it, no matter what. That became the end of my career.
she thinks because she paid a deposit that you owe her a freebie not realizing the deposit was basically a retainers fee like a lawyer to keep the dates requested in the package open for her which is loss business for you because she cancelled to where you could've scheduled other clients. you are a business not a charity. she wanted cheaper and got cheap work. I hope you recorded or made sure you keep record of the day she called on your phone or any messages of her canceling, so she doesn't try to fight in court stating you never showed. Protect you and your business and simply reply with stated contract and cancellation terms and offer a sympathetic sorry that your choice of photographer did not work out, ill be happy to schedule a session for a cost, money up front and double. In the future I would third party with a notary regarding any cancelations so it's on record with witness and not hearsay. but definitely keep those messages she sent you a week later for court purposes.
If she leaves you a negative review on your website, Facebook, Google, Yelp, BBB etc., come back here and we will rally back on your behalf 😊
Why paying something that I own that's my building wake up and smell the coffee I'm not evil l have a loving heart
The cheap comes out expensive. A great people’s court idiom of judge milian’s. I secretly hope that the bride does sue so judge milian can rake that idiot over the coals and the photographer doesn’t have to do anything but show her portfolio of the work she does/get free exposure and get paid for appearing on tv. 😀
This reminds me of the time that things ended with a guy I was dating for about a month because he talked to his ex and realized he still had feelings for her. He showed up at my frequented bar not two months later asking me why I didn't basically try to manipulate him into staying with me instead. It's amazing to me how quickly someone can screw you over and yet expect you to take the reigns in their life and save them from themselves. Good riddance!
That's a great price! I paid $2000 for 6hr on my wedding day! Some people are the worst. Although it's a c**p lesson to learn, it's still a lesson. In life you get what you pay for. You owe her nothing.
This is literally the mindset of this generation. Everything is someone else’s fault.
How do know this person's age? It could be someone in their 50s going on husband number 3 for all we know.
