When you lose a loved one, it shakes your world and the scary realization that you will never be able to see that person or talk to them again crushes your soul. It is even harder when you find out secrets about them that you can’t talk to them about anymore.

A mom and her 2 daughters lost their husband and father due to him taking his own life, but if that wasn’t enough, the wife found out that the man had a mistress and she felt that that woman also deserved to know and now millions of people are invested in this story.

More info: TikTok

After her husband’s death, this woman found out that her husband had a mistress and decided she also deserved to know what happened

The woman’s name is Bridgette Davis and she has over 200k followers on TikTok. She is 36 years old and has 2 daughters. Although so young, she is already a widow as her husband Peter tragically took his own life.

After his death, Bridgette found out an unpleasant fact about her late husband – he was cheating on her with another woman. They hadn’t known each other for that long, just a few months, but the widow thought that the mistress also deserved to know what happened.

This happened a few years ago, so Bridgette feels comfortable enough to talk about it to the internet and she made a satirical video about how she had to tell her late husband’s mistress he died.

The video blew up and now has 3.8 million views and because it was so short, just showing one screenshot of a text message, people wanted to know more and started asking questions. It must have been hard for Bridgette to have so many people interested in her story and to live through the experience again, but she did it anyway because she believed that she can help someone who is going through something similar and can draw inspiration from her recovery.

Bridgette’s husband had bipolar disorder, which eventually led him to take his own life

But before that, he found another woman online and lied to his wife about cutting ties with his mistress

It turns out that her husband was diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder and when he did some genetic tests to find out which medication suited him best, he had to switch them.

One day Bridgette got in quite a big fight with Peter when she confronted him about some questionable things she found on his phone. The man left the house, assumingly to cool off, but later confessed that he had brought his handgun with him, but that time he didn’t have the strength to pull the trigger.

At this point the woman was scared for her husband’s life and even though she was mad at him, she didn’t have the courage to kick him out.

The next morning, Peter left for work, but he didn’t return the same evening, which made Bridgette very worried. What was even worse was that nobody else believed Peter might be in trouble, even when he didn’t answer his phone for a couple of days.

Finally, after 5 days, Bridgette’s husband texted her and let her know that he was in Mexico, where he got in various trouble and spent all of their money, their savings and college funds. He even spent money from his work credit card so he was almost certain he’d just got himself fired.

When Bridgette read through the messages, she thought about charging that woman with assisted suicide, but later changed her mind

When Peter came back, he went to live with his parents because Bridgette thought it was the best for her daughters. During this period there were many ups and downs. Sometimes it seemed that things were improving and the other days he would say such dark things that made the woman really worried for him.

While telling the story, Bridgette never said anything bad about her late husband and actually praised him as a good father to their daughters. She mentioned that he was her best friend, but also she didn’t hide that dealing with mental health issues was hard.

One day she and her husband agreed to meet because he had finished fixing her car. Instead of Peter knocking on Bridgette’s door, there was a policeman who came to announce her husband’s death.

Bridgette was devastated and thankfully she and her daughters could go to therapy immediately, because they were already seeing a therapist as a result of Peter’s diagnosis.

However, she still contacted the mistress and found out she knew that Peter had a wife and 2 daughters

All of this happened a few years ago and finally Bridgette and her daughters are in a good enough place that she even can post about it on TikTok

When the husband’s parents thought that Bridgette was starting to come to terms with what happened, they passed her over his phone which revealed that when he said that he had stopped talking to the woman he met online, he was lying.

Bridgette read through some of the messages and initially blamed that woman for not helping her husband and preventing him from doing what he did, especially because he talked about it openly. Bridgette was even advised to go to the police to charge that woman with assisted suicide but she opted not to. However, Bridgette did contact the mistress for that reason.

The TikToker found out that the mistress knew about her and her daughters and she actually had a husband of her own, but they were in an open relationship. What is more, her previous husband had killed himself as well, so her reaction to the text messages was quite dramatic, and in later videos, Bridgette shared more screenshots showing that the mistress went to the hospital because she was so distraught after hearing the news.

The part that sparked a lot of discussions in the comments of the first video was about Bridgette not wanting the mistress to know about her husband’s grave. Some of them said that the mistress also needed to have a chance to grieve and say goodbye, others believed Bridgette didn’t owe that woman anything and wasn’t responsible for easing her grief. The latter also half jokingly assumed that the ones who told Bridgette to allow the mistress to see the urn are mistresses themselves. Later the widow revealed that there is no grave and she actually has an urn that she keeps at her house.

You can take a look at the viral video here

@bridgettedavis08There is a lot to unpack here.♬ Crazy – Patsy Cline

It is quite a complicated and emotional story and people will have a lot of feelings about how Bridgette acted and reacted. What would you have done in her situation? Firstly, would you contact the person your partner was cheating with to tell them what happened? And would you then reveal their grave’s location? We are very curious to hear your opinions, so leave them in the comments!

People were quite surprised by the mistress’ audacity seen in the messages while others thought she should have been given the chance to come to Peter’s grave

Again - why all this dirty laundry washing online in public? It's tasteless, sad and won't help anyone, more likely stir up more bad feelings. This has become a circus. Talk to friends and a therapist instead tiktok if you are emotional older than 14, for god's sake.

At the end of my and my ex-husband's 29 year marriage, I dealt with a few women. I had become ill and he had created alternate lives for himself, even though our intimate part of our life hadn't been affected by my illness. It was then affected by his behavior. I found that there were no women that felt any remorse for the wife in the scenarios where they knew about her up front. Most occasions though, I found that my ex-husband had told a fantastic story where he was a pitiful abused, neglected, person, who was treated like a second class citizen and what I'm describing doesn't really come close to the manipulation that he ran on everyone. By the time we went our separate ways, I was numb to everything and didn't even shed a tear that he was gone. It was just a relief. Our son had actually moved in with him for a couple months, to much regret, and had stated how horrible he is to everyone in his life. Would tell our son about how others, "misery loves company" cont below.

My experience was the opposite. We were married for only a week and he was already visiting his mistress up the street. Evidently they were an item the entire time we dated. I couldn't go on business trips with him and later learned they were meeting in the various cities he traveled to. She'd fly from the far North and he from our home in CA and TX to meet in Las Vegas or wherever he was assigned. After I left and he begged me to come back, he swore it was over but I was never quite convinced. One evening the phone rang, and I answered. A young man wanted to speak to my husband to tell him that his mom (the mistress) had been killed in a traffic accident. I handed him the phone and had to sit and watch his shock and tears, then the entire grieving process. I left after 13 years of marriage to this man who was never really married to me in his heart.

If I were the mistress, I would've googled the guy's obituary to find out where his funeral was, then I would have called the closest cemetery and asked them. This is how I found my grandpa's plot when I visited his city, and the people at the cemetery gave me a paper map to show me exactly where the plot was. Maybe the mistress tried that and didn't get anywhere because he had been cremated, but I can't imagine asking the widow! If I were the widow, I think I would have also contacted the mistress and declined to give the info about his remains. Yeah I probably would stir up a bit of drama. But I would not have made a Tik Tok about it.

Bridgette had just lost the man she had loved for 16 years to suicide. The only ones she should have had to be concerned about and trying to heal were her daughters and herself. The mistress apparently wasn't too concerned about Bridgette's feelings when she started an affair with her husband. Posting about it was probably a way for her to begin to heal. I mean...I can't imagine not only loosing your husband to suicide, but to also find out he was still carrying on an affair he told her he had ended. The mistress had one advantage over the wife...she knew about the wife. Wife was actually a lot nicer than she should have been. Not only would i have posted about it but I would have taken it 2 steps further. I would have posted her name and town she lived in. The wife had no reason to consider the mistress's feelings for having an affair with her husband.

Remember this: Once you are married, you own him. You have the contract, have you not? You can command him to stay no matter how bipolar you are, which makes life a living hell for each and everyone around you. And of course you can limit who he sees and talks to and has fun with, because no way you could possibly be the reason he would rather die, as you have been in therapy, for years. And there's no correlation to nothing, just to make that clear. How dare this man try to find a life worth living.

Um the dead husband had the bipolar disorder not the OP so try reading that again. Also if one is unhappy being married one only needs to seek a divorce not sneak behind his wife's back to "find a life worth living".

It's never ok to mistreat someone. But did you not see the part about him being seriously mentally ill?
