I was thinking of ways to be eco-friendly this holiday season and of course, wrapping gifts always comes up! Here are some alternatives and why I am not a fan of them:
-Scarf/Material Wrap: A lot of people don’t want to wrap gifts in scarfs they don’t have and if you don’t do it right, it doesnt look very nice in all honesty.
-Brown Paper/Newspaper: I’m not sure about others, but I don’t have brown paper lying around my place. Newspaper is probably my favorite runner up for wrapping gifts as I always have a ton lying around. Sadly, not a lot of people like the paper look.
So, what’s another alternative no one is talking about?! FOIL!!! We ALL have foil in our places for baking! Plus, foil is made from aluminum, which can be recycled ENDLESSLY. Aluminum is considered a sustainable metal, which means it can be recycled again and again with no loss of material. Recycling aluminum saves 90% to 95% of the energy needed to make aluminum.

Share on FacebookUmm, I've used foil many times. Not just for Christmas. I always get a double take when I would hand it over. It's economical and fun.
That's awesome to hear! Yeah a lot of people don't seem to be aware of foil and how it can be used in so many ways
Load More Replies...Aluminium foil may be more recyclable than plastic but it is not eco friendly as it has a heavier manufacturing footprint. One of the best things to use is Newspaper. Yes it may be ugly to look at but it is still better than many other methods. You can make it look nicer by decorating it with eco friendly paints using things like beetroot, used tea bags, turmeric, spinach etc.
That's a good point to bring up! I like the way newspaper looks, sadly some people want that shiny new present look so I figured this was a better alternative than glossy paper that can't be recycled, but thank you for bringing up that point!
Load More Replies...Thats not economical, what are they using it for after? Id like it if foil was recyclable but its not.
