I love seeing holidays and festivities move across borders like this! I have two examples of this from my life. I am in the UK BTW. #1 I spent 3 years in the USA with my parents and younger sister. For our first thanksgiving, our greek neighbours across the road invited us over for a day with their 20 + person family, and we had thanksgiving for a Greek twist which was unforgettable. For me, that is what thanksgiving is. #2 My aunt, uncle and two cousins were visiting from Seattle and flying back on thanksgiving this year. The whole family ( my parents and sister, and two uncles and aunts) planned a secret Thanksgiving last Sunday and my grandparents sneakily got the whole thing ready (Aunt and Uncle stayed with my grandparents). They were so happy when we walked in and they realised what we were doing. It was a very british thanksgiving with lots of pigs in blankets, but I also made my first pumpkin p

My Granddad Wanted To Show Us His "Pride And Joy" This Thanksgiving. Turns Out, It Wasn't His Grandchildren But Rather His Sense Of Humor
I show up at my aunt's house and my granddad is sitting in the corner with a big grin on his face. I walk over to say hello and he asks, "Have you seen my pride and joy?" He pulls out this picture and starts laughing uncontrollably. It's definitely Thanksgiving time again!

The Sweetest Little Patient I Got To Spend Thanksgiving At Work With In Our Shelter's Animal Hospital
Her name is Mariah and she is being treated for canine parvovirus in our shelter's clinic which has an area specifically for parvo patients to receive medical care like IV medications (on her foot that is an IV). So happy to see this little girl thriving against a terrible illness.

A British Canadian Thanksgiving
I'm British and my husband is Canadian, so that's why you can see Yorkshire puddings and pigs in blankets. Also the desserts went very British with sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble. The brie en croute was my favorite. Happy Thanksgiving!

At my house in NC, USA, we had a traditional Thanksgiving meal then had 4 day early Birthday Cake; our dad turns 98 on Dec 1st. He lives independently with us coming by most days of the week to keep him company, do light housekeeping, cooking, and we run errands. We're very lucky to still have him and he is part of what we are very thankful for.

American Thanksgiving looks so cool! We, in Québec (Canada), celebrate Thanksgiving in October... and we do nothing. It's time off, that's all. It's a bit sad ☹ Maybe the rest of Canada is celebrating?

Frances, Canadian Thanksgiving is the same date (second Monday in October) for all of Canada. You don't choose to do anything for Thanksgiving? When I was younger we would have turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables etc. But now, it's not the meal that's so important (because it can be costly to get all those ingredients or take a lot of time) It's the sentiment. I like to invite family and friends, especially people that are single, recently widowed, recently divorced, etc who just might like to take a day to share a meal together and be grateful for what we have, even in an ever-changing and always stressful world. That's what thanksgiving's all about. It doesn't have to be about pilgrims, parades and the day before a shopping event. You can always choose to celebrate anything that you think has merit. Life's too short not to celebrate it
