For some stupid reason, someone decided that everything has to be divided into categories based on gender. Colors, children's toys, clothes... the list goes on and on. Even Lego! This has always been a problem, but now that the very true fact that there are more than two genders is becoming apparent to those previously ignorant, it is harder and harder to find basic things that aren't pointlessly divided. It could be something major or something tiny and relatively insignificant, there's definitely plenty of things to choose from.

Clothes, bicycles, toys, hairstyles, paychecks. these are just the first things that came to mind.

I saw a tiktok yesterday about a woman complaining about the boy clothing being "too colorful" or having rainbows.

As a band guy, instruments. All of our trumpets, me included, are guys, and the majority of our clarinets and flutes are girls. Most of the low brass section are also dudes. The saxes have an alright mix, but they're still majority guys, as is percussion.

This! I play trombone and am the only one in the low brass/trumpet section who’s not a boy

There are so many things I could say, but this is one that while it is quite small it's always annoyed me. Normal stuffed animal or plushy: it's a boy! Stuffed animal or plushy with eyelashes: it's a girl!

Which is weird because testosterone is what makes lashes long and thick.

Most things. Seriously, what happened? Men used to wear makeup, heels, wigs, long hair, dresses (robes/togas/kilts), etc throughout the world and it didn’t mean anything regarding their sexuality or identity. When did society decide that it was “not acceptable”?

I honestly have no idea, but it's very unfair. Like, i don't care what you wear as long as I don't have to see your genitals and your clothing doesn't contain any racist, sexist, homo/transphobic, or generally offensive messages or imagery. I do know a few guys who wear makeup, dresses, heels, and stuff like that, but I also know guys who would like to but don't because they live in communities that generally don't accept anything outside of the gendered, stereotypical cis/het "normal"

Pets. I always loved snakes and lizards when I was younger (and still do) but all my girl classmates seemed to think they were gross. Only the boys thought they were cool. It evened out a bit as we got older, but still not equal

Animals in general. Girls are expected to like cute fuzzy baby animals and boys like reptiles and bugs and stuff. My old school was very nature-y, so most of us were cool catching various critters, but I've definitely noticed a divide in my other friends and once I switched to public school. Although now it's like everyone is terrified of anything that's not a puppy or kitten. Not sure if any of that made sense, sorry.
