What My Coffee Says To Me: My Depression Inspired Me To Start Drawing And Inspire Others
Ever curious and eager for new opportunities, I relocated to Montreal in 2009 to shake up my career. But, a series of events shook up my life instead.
I never talked about my struggle with depression. It was my secret, just as depression is the secret of many people. At first, living with depression has prevented my ability to work or to earn for living. This led me to judge myself as less valuable, as nobody. I know I measured my self-worth with working or producing. As a result, my sense of failure and inadequacy stunted my creativity.
On January 1, 2012, after reading an article about women, depression, and how can coffee help, “What my Coffee says to me” was born. I was given 366 days to retry my leap into creativity.
Today, I am grateful for each and every chance to help others living with this mental illness, especially through my creative ideas or simply by bringing a smile to everyone’s day with one of my daily colorful drawings.
I have over 1,276 works of art and I’m still creating. I’m trying to raise money and awareness for mental health and financial literacy for kids. When people buy my creations on Redbubble I donate 50% royalties to the Canadian mental health Association and FrogskinU. Cheers and may your cup always be full.
