Did you know that the rainbow flag used to represent the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transexual and Queer communities around the world was designed and created in San Francisco?

The original flag, well, actually two flags were designed and created by Gilbert Baker. The gigantic flags were raised at the San Francisco United Nations Plaza in 1978 for the Gay Freedom Parade. They actually had eight-colored stripes.

Nobody knew what happened to the flags after that. One of the flags complete disappeared. The other one was stored in boxes for 40 years, and was moved out of San Francisco. People did not know what was in that box as it was part of many boxes stored after the 1970s. A piece of that flag has been returned to San Francisco and if you want to learn more, go to my blog Lupitanews.
