I’m 42, (I have had 2 kids) so I’m not holding back. Period farts and poops can be horrible. Sometimes when you poop, your tampon comes out, or just a little and you don’t realize it until you leave the bathroom then you have to go back. Sometimes I can feel the blood trickling out of me if I don’t have a tampon in. Sometimes if I do have one in, I can still tell that I’m leaking. It sucks laying in bed not wanting to get up but you have to because you have to check yourself. It sucks if you have pcos and don’t know when it’s going to start or where. Sometimes I get extremely sore boobs, other times 1 dark think hair grows on my chin that I have to pluck or nothing at all.

Pain. (As I'm writing this, actually.)

For almost 20 years it felt like I had stomach flu 5 days a month… not the puking part but diarrhea, cramps, spent hours on the toilet…. It looked like a friggin bloodbath before I flushed.
Also I had to change pads every hour & when I was young we still had those thick pads that moved all over the place and leaked like crazy.
Even with tampons I still had leaks. I only felt “normal” 3 days a month. My hormones went up and down from depression to manic. It was awful. And the pill didn’t help.
I was glad when I found out I was pregnant. Best 9 months ever.
After that another 10 years of misery until I FINALLY got an IUD.
For the past twelve years I’ve had a level head- no more depression, no more mania - and barely have any blood loss or PMS symptoms. If I’m lucky I still need one more IUD before I’m in menopause.
Note to psychiatrists: If a teenage girl suffers depressions and has a similar menstrual situation, please don’t immediately try with anti depressants…. It’s possible she has PMSS.
