I don't really understand what it means to be a furry, if someone could please explain.

I have heard that furries are offensive to trans people or transphobic. Is this true, and if not, why do people think it is?

I am honestly just curious and do not mean to offend anyone

Furriers are people who identify as an animal and wear a thing called a furry suit and wear them most time. Usually during sex

Here is the definition from Wikipedia

The furry fandom is a subculture interested in anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics. Examples of anthropomorphic attributes include exhibiting human intelligence and facial expressions, speaking, walking on two legs, and wearing clothes

I thought it was just fun cosplay outfits that people make to dress up as a character they invented, i dont know how its transphobic some of my trans friends like cosplay? People at comic cons are usually really nice even if they are dressed as a dragon or a werewolf, its just fun to dress up

That makes sense, I am not sure why people would say it's transphobic then. Thanks for the help!
