Woman Gives A Perfect Example On How To Respond When A Misogynist Asks You ‘But What About Men’s Rights?’
TikToker Alla, who is known online as TheRussianRoulette, is sick and tired of men hijacking conversations about women’s rights by saying, “But what about our rights?” So she made a video to try and put an end to this.
In the recording, Alla explains why she thinks such a question means nothing on its own, and why dropping it in the middle of a conversation about another sex does nothing for men too — Alla believes this discussion requires much more research and overall involvement. Not just cheap linguistic bait.

Men dominate key institutions, such as government, politics, management, trade unions, churches (and that’s a topic for another time); yet some suffer considerable marginalization as evidenced in higher rates of suicide, psychiatric illness, and alcoholism than women.
Men’s relatively low life expectancy, poor health, accidents, suicide, and morbidity are just a few big problems they currently face. Be it sports as the dominating lens of masculinity or the pressure to be a financial success, they can suffer many, many sleepless nights and face other challenges as a result.

According to The Men’s Resource Center of West Michigan and its counselors and therapists, men often struggle with anger and stress management, anxiety and depression, being a good father, as well as sex and intimacy, and that’s just scratching the surface.
You might think, “why should we care?” But just think of the impact men have on women, children, and other men. We should talk and try to solve their struggles, but these discussions and actions shouldn’t sacrifice women’s rights.
Here’s what people are saying about it

Share on FacebookExactly. Any person who really cared about "mens rights" would be a feminist since most mens problems stem from sexism. Mainly toxic masculinity (society forcing men to act in a specific way in order to be acepted) and lgbt+ phobia
True and lets be fair here, the "ways" man are supouse to be were creaated by men, women untill recently really did not have had much of a say... So mostly for men the problem is other men (mostly, not always) sinceo most women who support that were tought to follow what the men thought was right.

How about custody equality? Also don’t want my ex wife not to have equal parental time or equal decision making abilities because I’m not a f*****g monster who would do that to someone I love; marginalize one of their parents.
Load More Replies...Yes. I think we should be talking, and acting, about the ills men face in our society. However, using it as some sort of rebuttal when we try to talk about women's issues is, as you say, whataboutism. We can care about more than one thing at a time. One group experiencing issues doesn't diminish the issues another group faces. We don't have to drown out each other's voices.
Load More Replies...Whataboutism is inherently a tool to censor, not acknowledge or distract people from the subject at hand and it occurs way too often whenever it comes to ongoing problems tied to sexual harassment and racial discrimination. Not a single thread of empathy in said tool. It's incredibly annoying and obnoxious, I'm glad people are equipped with critical thinking to confront it whenever it happens.
Any real man wants equality for everyone. That doesn't mean we have to be the same, just have the same rights and respect. Men of quality don't fear equality.
What you're talking about sounds like equity. Not everyone is the same, but everyone has the same rights.
Load More Replies...Addressing issues that men face in certain situations does not make you a misogynist. Family Law is a good example - sometimes women make up DV accusations to gain an advantage in custody or property decisions, and are even encouraged to do so by unscrupulous women's rights advocacy organizations. Where does a man go when the abuser is a woman? This won't be a popular topic in this thread but it happens - I've been there...
Feminists: Feminism is about equality for everyone, not just women! Also feminists: This article
You didn't really understand what she was saying, did you?
Load More Replies...Hey here is a new take let's stop referring to rights as women or men but human rights instead. Because guess what people identify as more than 2 genders and everyone deserves the same human rights no matter your gender.
There are rights specific to women that need to be acknowledged though.
Load More Replies...Good job.you said that so proud and confident and I respect that
Just equal rights, protections and obligations, end of. No need for "special rights" based on gender or any other groupings.
Whataboutism is always BS. The person perpetrating it has no valid argument.
Not at all, the crux of this conversation, though, is that many people (not just men) bring that phrase up to deligitimize the argument/push for women's rights and the rights of people of color and lgbtq+ people. The suggestion here is that, if you are truly concerned with men's rights, let's have a real conversation about it, not just why other people having rights somehow take away from your own rights. Good question!🙂
Load More Replies...In some sense men's rights is about women, because isn't it the mother who first shows her son right from the cradle how she wants him to behave, who she wants him to be. Then he grows up into society and bangs up against all the masculine norms. No wonder some men are angry and confused. Also the movies show a strong bias towards the 'ideal man' .
Ok, different question: Do you want equality for everyone, or are you looking to flip this in the opposite direction?
In 2017 a 25 yo girl by the name of Anne Faber got raped and killed in the Netherlands. I can tell you many details of this case by memory because it was all over the news and all everyone talked about. (murder is quite rare in the Netherlands) Last summer a boy in his early 20's got stabbed to death over a watch at a local swimming hole. I can't remember his name or any of the details. He didn't leave a fraction of the impression in our common consiousness as the girl did. That's what whataboutism is about.
If i understand you correct (might have missanderstood what your point was) then you did not get thepoint ofthis post... This actually proves the point she was making!

Somewhat false argument: Israel has even more of an acute existential problem in that sense --- did they introduce mandatory military service for men? No, for all citizens, also women (with some religious exceptions, mostly for men).
Load More Replies...damn, She was just perfect! like, as a woman I think both rights are important, I believe that there shouldn't be a line. whenever I saw the "what about men's rights?" I would always be like "wtf u talking about...cuz you men get treated better than women" now I know not all men get treated the same.
Seems like you're the one trying to shut something down you dont like. Quit taking it out of proportion and agree to disagree okay? There are a million things and even more people to decide what they want to talk about. I have a right to comment what i want, as do you. No need to get huffy over what i chose to say. You think your thoughts, I think mine. All of us together create the bigger picture for others to start to see and understand
If a guy stood up and started talking about "mens rights" he'd then be criticized for being misogynistic as well, there is too much rhetoric surrounding the topic, the idea of Male privilege makes any statement by a man about mens rights belittling to womens rights, I agree with what she said but it isnt quite as black and white as she makes it seem
They need to fix the custody issue for men. Why do all women automatically get to keep the child in their controlled care? And the fathers have to go fight for their children. The ones that care anyway. Its kind of crap and probably why a lot of men that split end up not caring for their children.
Did you read the article? How do you think your comment contributes to the conversation? I could post down here "They really need to fix the traffic control at the intersection down the street from me, pedestrians keep getting hit"... my statement would be completely true, but just like yours, it doesn't contribute to this specific discussion.
Load More Replies...the video and this post are addressing the fact that most of the time, the people who go "but men's rights!" are not actually interested in men's rights, only in taking rights from women. you sound like one of the rare people who IS willing to have the discussion about men's rights and how they need to exist alongside women's rights. the discussion needs to be about both, about equality, but a lot of men aren't interested in that.
Load More Replies...It's not about what I'm hearing, it's about perception and feelings. Read what I'm trying to say... the past influences the present, but don let the past affect you now. If you need to direct your spirit towards a goal direct it to the culture and steer it towards a change for good. After all the spirit of a person doesn't have a gender, rather the body affected by hormones... and don't forget we all start out the same in the womb. I'm trying to be nice here... not all men are bad!
Load More Replies...Douchecanoe! (Apparently we are tossing random obscenities, lol!)
Load More Replies...Thats plainly stupid. Feminists talk about mens problems all the time (toxic masculinity, gay and trans right, minorities rights...). The problem isnt that. It is interrupting conversations about women pretending that they care about men.
