I came into owning a dog late in my life. But nothing had or has ever enriched it more.
Our story is the same. This comic summarised well the exprerience, loved it! During the daily walks I realised the flowers, which season have the exact fruits and herbs. My husband come with us and we're talking like in the dating period. The reason: a shelter doggy, that we adore and she make our day complete now.
Yay for shelter dog rescuers! We couldn't be happier with our rescue, and I'm sure he couldn't be happier anywhere else! orrie-57b4...37be2c.jpg
first, what a beautifully illustrated story how people should not shop but adopt. well done! Blessings!
I am crying now. What a lovely drawings and those dog's eyes... I can't resist the tears. People who are taking animals from shelters are awesome.
Wonderful story AND beautifully illustrated. Adoption is the way to go and so it was for my three kitties.
In march i adopted a dog too from an animal shelter and the experiencie was wonderful. At first he was afraid too, he didn't understand what to do with all the toys he had. After five months he changed radically, he awakes me every morning with his toy to play. It's a beautiful experience ever. From Argentina, great post!
This is exactly the story of Happy. But I found her on the street in Brazil. There so many animals abandoned every day. Happy is exactly like your baby!!! Bless you!!!!
The dog in the story sounds a lot like our dog, Liana, who was found on the streets. She was so scared of everything, even if you raised your voice just a little bit, but niw so lively and so lovable that it is hard to see life without her. She also made friends with my cat and our other dog which made it just so much easier to give her a home where she could be safe
Please adopt from shelter, do not buy animals from pet shop, they pet mil is a hell for those poor dogs that are confined in dirty and small cages for life and when they can't produce puppies anymore they are dumped like a trash! So please if you are thinking about having a pet, consider adoption, just go to the animal shelter and save an animal who will love you for sure!
Brillant and so, so true. The relationship with a pet from a shelter has even more meaning and depth than the one with a bought pet
Also pets in shops mostly come from puppy farms, which are horrendous businesses that should never ever be supported. Google 'puppy farms'
Wow, we're adopting a street dog fron Bulgaria in two months, so perfect timing! Can't wait to experience this with our new friend.
I can't stop crying like a baby! I know the look that he speaks of! You can truly see the gratitude and love in their eyes. I really believe they know you rescued them.
Love this. This story should be posted at all animal shelters the world over.
Congratulations Bird Born ! This is amazing work..! Made my eyes wet! Also, congratulation for the decision you made about adopting this sweet dog!!!
Our Sophie was begging for scraps at the local cafe'. She would sit patiently and quietly waiting to be fed even though she was skin and bones. We took her home to our other 7 dogs. We looked for an owner for 2 weeks, took her to the vet, fed her and fed her some more. We quickly saw this sweet sweet girl is happy, but freaks if we are out somewhere and start the truck before she is loaded. In 8 days she will start a new adventure as a Service Dog! We will miss this sweet girl, but know she has a higher calling.
Wonderful! And true! I've adopted two dogs (not at the same time), and as much as sometimes is the worst moment for going out for a walk, they made our life so warmer :3
Maybe one day I'll be able to adopt. It's such a sweet story of a growing bond. It takes a special person to be willing to take an adult dog with no clue on its history. everyone is obsessed with puppies (I'd rather skip house breaking my dog personally). It's a very touching comic I hope gets shared a million times over. One say
As an owner of three rescued dogs, this made me shed a tear of compassion and joy :)
Unfortunately in this country it costs more the rehome a rescue dog (£250) than to buy a puppy
LOVE the picture with the hearts showered on the miserable dog. :-) (Still: Pick your shelter dog carefully. Not all dogs 'just need love' and not all problems go away with time - especially trauma or deprivation syndrome. Make sure you find a dog that can thrive in your kind of live or you both will be unhappy)
i think we need to consider why some pets end up in the shelter. One big one is that you got a puppy for a christmas present and when it is no longer 'cute' people just dump them. I see nothing wrong with buying from the breeder as long as someone doesn't need to adopt it from a shelter when you finish with it!
