The name derives from the Brocken mountain in middle Germany. It's a place that is connected to many myths and is commonly known as the meeting place of witches. Also there is fog on most days of the year, so this phenomenon is very often seen there.

Got to scuba dive with whales many years ago in the Sea of Cortez. They came close, and I think they were curious about us. You start feeling very small, very quickly! Unforgettable experience though.
