The “Cursed Architecture” Twitter Feed Showcases The Best Of The Worst (40 Pics)
Whether we're talking about the subreddit Crappy Design or the Instagram account Ugly Irish Houses, the Internet seems obsessed with tasteless crimes against aesthetics and functionality. If you are too, the Twitter account "Cursed Architecture" is right up your alley.
Its hellish content includes strange angles, melting paint, vaguely threatening toilets, stairs that lead to nowhere, and more. Basically, the kind of stuff that architects and interior designers would imagine in a horror-comedy. But believe me, you don't have to be an industry pro to appreciate these pictures. They're so bad, us regular folk will get them as well. Enjoy!

This makes zero sense... It must be a goofy art installation or something.
I'm not sure if they could put anything in that door that I would walk up those stairs for
It will have to be one hell of a life changing award
Load More Replies...It's an artwork :). In Switzerland (this is Biel), a percentage of a public building is dedicated to an artwork to be permanently installed in the building and is often specially commissioned. It's obviously not a functional staircase :)
I've had many a bad dream where I would need to navigate a building like this. Always ended the same way, kerplunk.
That‘s in Biel, Switzerland 😁. I live near thst building. It‘s a sort of an artistic thing i think
It's an art installation! Fake doors, etc. Left from a city wide art project. I use to walk by it everyday and it terrified me until I learned that it wasn't actual stairs.
Oh it make me feel nauseous just thinking about it. I hope those doors are really well fastened as some idiot would surely try it as a dare.
There better be something AMAZING in on or both of those rooms to risk those stairs. What could it be??
This reminds me of the staircase outside the furnace room in spirited away
I think I saw this somewhere in the past (maybe on BP) and it said it was an art project.
Upper door opens to a dorm. Lower door opens to the only toilet available at night in the whole tower.
Build an outside staircase with no railing they said.........fill in the blank.
and you remember you left the keys to the other door on the desk.

without a railing, all sense of safety is gonneee
Designed by some man, I am sure of it!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha hahahahahahahahah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Secret escape door, disguised on the inside, leading to a hidden room.
That makes my toes curl and body tingle with fear just looking at it! I’d never be able to do that flight.
Oh geez!!! Don't try and go up those stairs drunk!!! You're not libel to make it to the first step...
This basically says: If ur afraid of heights, ur not allowed here.
Pack your things and go. Don't worry, security will escort you to the door 🚪!
The not so very well hidden stairs to M bureau? "Miss Moneypenny, why is 007 not arrived in my office yet?" "He's still too afraid to take the stairs, sir."
Fun fact about me: I was in the 8th grade when I discovered my crippling fear of heights. Not by being high up oh no. I looked up at a smoke stack at a field trip and was hit with a wave of vertigo so strong it was like I was magnetized to the ground. The field trip chaperone qas the health teacher and she knew immediately. Close your eyes and sit up. Lol. I was famous for that afterwards. And now as I look at this photo I feel like I'm falling.
Change your perspective, and everything changes. The invisible show itself, and the impossible can become possible. 🔄
Ok my perspective is you go first, open the door, take a picture and show me what is on the other side.
Load More Replies...Once had the same at a place I worked, that was when I found out I was frightened of heights
Well the building isn't finished, OSHA requires a handrail for anything more than, I believe, 2 ft.
This reminds me of a recurring dream I have. I know I can walk, run, bike, etc. down a sidewalk without any issues. Yet in my dream there is a sidewalk hundreds of feet above the ground, nothing to either side but a drop straight to the bottom, and I can barely walk a straight line.
nope. If i need to do this to get the job i will nope my way out of there
I wonder if those doors are really portals that don't connect to the building.
Not even an arm railing!!!! my stomach is turning just looking at it.
feels like it was designed by whoever put all those catwalks without railings in the Death Star. I am sure it is not health and safety regulation compliant
Its also going into a solid cast concrete block with nothing inside it so either its fake or was put there as a joke.
I dont think you actually supposed to take those stairs. It should be design
You can either like this or people (I don't blame you) 😂

No... there are countries with little in the way of building codes and few people to enforce what codes do exist.
Load More Replies...A lot of these are just bad decor, and have nothing to do with architecture.
