People often share their weight loss journey on social media, and no one should be the judge of it, as it’s something personal that people choose to do. Well, sometimes, jealousy brings out the worst in people and they behave in a very questionable manner, don’t you think so?

This woman certainly did after she saw a medical device that looked like an Epi-pen in her mother-in-law’s fridge, assumed she was using it for weight loss, and wanted to call her out in front of the whole family. Netizens, however, felt it was extremely horrid of her to do so as it was none of her business!

No one should be the judge of a person’s weight loss journey, least of all, their own family

Her mother-in-law has recently lost a lot of weight and has been posting her journey and hard work for it on social media

The poster was jealous of her weight loss and wanted to confront her in front of the whole family about using the injections

In today’s story, people online had no sympathy for the original poster (OP) after she revealed what she wanted to do out of jealousy. She tells us that she was visiting her in-laws over the weekend and they have an open house policy, where guests are free to go and take what they want.

When OP went to make herself a drink, she found a medical item that looked like an Epi-pen stashed in the fridge and Googled it to find out that it was a weight-loss injection pen. Then she goes on to explain that her mother-in-law has lost a lot of weight and she has been posting a lot on social media about how she’s working hard in the gym.

Now, the poster immediately linked that the woman must be taking the weight loss injections as she had been a bit evasive about how she lost so much weight. It has been observed that weight-loss medication is not the easy answer to losing weight, but it also requires physical exercise and a proper diet, too.

When the poster said that she was thinking of outing her mother-in-law in front of the whole family for using it and lying about it, folks online felt it was completely horrid. They said that it was not a lie as it’s pretty clear that taking medications is not the only way to lose weight, and even if she did use it, it was clearly none of OP’s business.

She also informed us that her father-in-law is diabetic and he has also lost a lot of weight lately, to the point that her mother-in-law was concerned about him. Research says that weight-loss injections are effective for many people who enjoy eating sweet foods as it was shown to be able to reduce obesity among diabetics by at least 10%.

People pointed out that it could also belong to her father-in-law, but she was quick to jump to the conclusion that it was her mother-in-law’s. However, she herself revealed that she was jealous of her weight loss.

OP informed us that she had recently had a baby and she is also jealous of her sister-in-law who also had a baby but started going to the gym to get fit again. Some people pointed out that exposing or accosting her mother-in-law out of jealousy would be quite an awful thing to do.

According to Psychology Today, jealousy can compel someone to attempt to lower the person’s self-confidence. It seems like she was trying to undermine the woman in front of everyone by confronting her about the stashed medication.

Some people also commented that it was not particularly “hidden” inside the fridge, so there was a possibility that other people knew about it, and if she spoke it out loud, she would just make a fool of herself. Overall, almost everyone agreed that it was a bad idea to do what she was thinking.

Some even shamed her and claimed that she was also goading people who were on weight-loss medication, but she justified it by mentioning that her mother-in-law expects honesty from the rest of the family but she was not honest about this. However, folks simply came to the conclusion that she shouldn’t do it as it would be very unkind and it might also anger her partner.

Do you think so too? What advice would you give to someone who is taking such actions out of jealousy? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Folks online were stumped by her jealousy and they didn’t shy away from telling her that it was none of her business

What could you possibly have to gain by bringing this up? Either the medicine is in fact FIL and you look like a nasty fool. Or the medicine is MIL and you look like a nasty green eyed monster. If you are unhappy with how you look, perhaps you should follow MIL example and start counting calories and going to the gym. If not, shut up and mind your own business.

I use an injectable similar to it, but mine is an asthma treatment. There are any number of injectable medications now, and they are no one's business but the prescribee, their doctor and immediate family who need to know. In the US, it's a violation of HIPAA law to disclose that information to others without the patient's permission. Mind your own business!

Those meds CAN cause weight loss equal to 10-15% of bodyweight over the course of 18 months by themselves....but you're not going to have a drastic body change unless you're also changing your eating habits and exercising regularly. Besides that, their legitimate use is for DIABETICS, weight loss is an off label trend. Outing someone for using tools that you don't have available to you isn't going to make you any thinner.

"Epi" is short for "epinephrine," which is a specific d**g, not a type ofsyringe. EpiPens are not kept in the fridge, and they're for severe allergies and mast cell diseases, not weight loss. If it doesn't have epinephrine in it, it's not an EpiPen. OP doesn't actually know what kind of medication it is, clearly, nor is it her business.

So,, you went to take a drink. How does this epipen relate to your drink? This type of pen is on prescription, and usually prescribed to diabetics. I was offered one, but declined. If they want to tell you, they will, it's not your job to question it. Stay out of it.

I don't think OP knows what 'stick in the mud' means, but MIL is not being deceitful in any way. Those d***s help suppress appetite, thus reducing food intake for some people. They do not magically make the pounds just drop off, there is still plenty of work involved. It's none of anyone's else's business and MIL is not under any obligation to mention it to avoid 'lying'. If OP wants to destroy any relationship she has with MIL, this would be a great way to do it. I wouldn't think it would be great for her relationship with her spouse either. And if it's FIL's med, which it could certainly be, she won't even get the satisfaction of being vindicated once she opens her big mouth.

*sighs* been facing this a lot myself. i'm a diabetic, i'm on ozempic, and of course as soon as it's mentioned... people tell me: * it's dangerous and i need to get off of it immediately! * i shouldn't be taking a diet d**g! * comments about it being new and untested! * etc along those lines and a lot of side-eye it has been tested in diabetics for 2 decades, the weight-loss is a side effect, and yeah i was warned about the side effects before i started on it for LIFE. thing is, diabetics don't take the same amount as those who take WEGOVY(the proper diet version), we take typically a quarter the amount to get the affect we need(stabilizes blood sugars, helps produce insulin in those who still can, and helps reduce insulin resistance), and we know we're on it for life. one of the major issues, is all the news articles etc for years now, have mentioned the diabetic version which is, again, ozempic and rarely mention the diet version which is wegovy.

She admits she is jealous. She already knows she would be TA, she's just throwing into the echo chamber to find an askhole who will validate her behaviour. EpiPens are not Ozempic - they are for severe allergic reactions. So not only has she not done her homework, approached the subject like a mature adult, she has also jumped to some very ignorant conclusion because she still has a fat a*s while MIL doesn't.

YTA, and a snoopy one to boot. Epi Pens are used for anaphylactic shock prevention in the event of exposure to a dangerous allergen i.e. bee sting, food (peanuts, seafood, etc) or any substance that can cause an allergic reaction. Next time, ask a real medical person NOT THE INTERNET. Google does NOT, in fact, have an MD behind the name.

Just let it go. She shouldn't be lying, but if she isn't in your face about it, there's no harm. She's eating healthy and recognises the hard work is at the gym, and she's made lots of lifestyle changes. Don't put that down. Don't make her feel bad for losing weight. Just ignore it. If she starts lecturing people, fair enough, but support the healthy lifestyle, it doesn't matter how she got there. Don't be malicious.

There are any number of injectable medications now, and they are no one's business but the prescribee, their doctor and immediate family who need to know. In the US, it's a violation of HIPAA law to disclose that information to others without the patient's permission. Mind your own business!

It doesn't matter what it is. COnsidering the back story, the OP should shut up.

Outing someone for using tools that you don't have available to you isn't going to make you any thinner.

if OP is interested in losing weight, she could ask MIL for tips and advice, and say, "i've heard great things about those weight loss d***s, do you know anyone who's had success with those?" and if MIL doesn't say yeah i take them, drop it.

As someone with multiple severe allergies I have multiple epi pens at all times. I can quite clearly state they are not used for weight loss but for anaphylaxis when required.

There can be a lot of judgement on people who supposedly "cheated" to lose weight.

How is it deceitful to use weight loss medication? Who are you deceiving? This OP has a truckload of issues.

Since when are Epi-Pens for weight loss? Asking as a former first responder who always used them for severe anaphylaxis (allergy reactions).

EpiPens are used in case of anaphylactic reactions -- not weight loss. And lenka's comments mirror my thoughts.

The OP, you mean? "Monster-In-Law" is generally a term for an awful mother-in-law.

First, the medicine could be the father in laws. Second, it does matter how you get there when using a medication in secret and making it seem like it was all your hard work.
