Guy Doesn’t Eat For A Week, And Here’s What Happened

Fasting seems to have slowly worked itself back into our collective consciences again, this time for health reasons. While humans have fasted for millennia, either involuntarily or for cultural and religious reasons, the advent of diets that incorporate intermittent fasting such as the 5:2 diet or the ‘warrior’ diet has popularized semi starvation in the western world once again.

Never tried a fast? Let us introduce you to Shen Comix, who also goes under the name of Owl Turd. In his own words he decided to embark on this project because: “The first week of 2018, I decided I wasn’t going to eat anything, because, I dunno, that’s just what I decided for the first week of 2018.”

This isn’t one of those fancy pants, Gweneth Paltrow style detox fasting programs that are oh so fashionable amongst the alternative health crowd. This is straight up, 7 days, no food. Simple as you like.

A huge anti-climax as it doesn't say how he felt at the end or whether it changed him in any way.

Eh? It does say... Those pictures and balloons say it all. He even expressed how he felt by exaggerating, portraying himself as a singer. Whether it changed him? Well, after the realisation, he got back to being his old self and satisfied all his cravings... You can draw the conclusions from that. I think the "realisation" was really self-deception due to the brain activating a protecting survival mechanism.

I think the main take away was his realization that our bodies don't need food as much as we think it does and that it does in fact hold us back. There are many explanations for this, scientific and anecdotal. But it's best to experience it for yourself just to know that your body can do it. The benefits, if any, takes time to become noticeable and there are other things you can do to achieve health. This is just one more tool in the tool box, but a very powerful one if you can listen to your body and let it do its job.

What's the point ? This is not to criticize, but why did he do that ? Test his limits ? Just to know how it feels ? I would have liked him to explain in more detail his feelings rather than five drawings that detail almost nothing ....

Not eating for a period of time allows your body to go into a repair state rather than a growth state and purges the bodies of all the rubbish ingested.

I think it's just trendy now. I've never seen single research proving fasting is healthy and cleaning the organism. To clean our body we have such a things as pancreas, liver, spleen and so on. There is no doing such ridiculous activities. Eat well, eat organic as much as you can, move outside, avoid added sugars, don't smoke, do not drink too much, this is all you need to clean.
