People Are Destroying Couple With “We Will Adopt Your Baby” Sign, And Here Are 30 Of The Best Posts
Last Friday, the US Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v Wade, a 1973 landmark ruling that protected Americans’ constitutional right to an abortion for nearly 50 years. The decision to clear the way for dozens of states to ban the procedure sent shockwaves around the country and appalled millions worldwide. Outraged citizens took to the streets to condemn this anti-choice reality.
As thousands of activists, both pro-choice advocates and anti-abortion protestors, gathered outside the Supreme Court and held their handmade posters, one couple stood out like a sore thumb. The beaming pair celebrated the rollback of women’s rights by proudly showing off a sign that read: "We Will Adopt Your Baby." Since they completely failed to read the room, their photo went viral on Twitter, drawing attention to the problems with this point of view.
This picture swiftly took over the internet and triggered an avalanche of reactions, from people expressing outrage about downplaying the potential dangers of forced pregnancy to sharing hilarious memes that poke fun at this logic. Below, you can take a closer look at how social media users took it upon themselves to question and ridicule these anti-abortion advocates. It's virtue-signalling pure and simple. If you believe their sign then their intentions are this; 1) Force a teenager (or a rape victim) to carry a baby for nine months against her will. 2) Force a teenager (or rape victim) to give birth to the child against her will. 3) Surrender her baby to them. The worst part is that they are proposing all this with a smug, self-righteous smile plastered across their faces.
If you’re not familiar with the Roe v. Wade case, let us catch you up to speed. It started in 1969 when a 25-year-old single woman, Norma McCorvey, using the pseudonym "Jane Roe" challenged the criminal abortion laws in Texas. Then, terminating the pregnancy was illegal in the state, except in situations where the mother’s life was in danger. Henry Wade, the district attorney for Dallas County, defended the anti-abortion law. Thus, Roe v. Wade.
America is so messed up these days that moving in with the Goblin King looks pretty appealing to me.
Roe was pregnant with her third child when she filed the case but was forced to give birth. In 1973, her appeal made it to the US Supreme Court. Her case was heard alongside that of a 20-year-old Georgia woman, Sandra Bensing, where they both argued that abortion laws in their states contradicted the US Constitution — they infringed on a woman's right to privacy. By a vote of seven to two, the court ruled that governments could not prohibit abortions and that a woman’s right to end a pregnancy is protected by the constitution.
This case led to the creation of the "trimester" system that allows the right to an abortion in the first three months of the pregnancy, some government regulation in the next three, and puts a ban on terminating the pregnancy in the final trimester (except cases where doctors certify that the fetus is putting the woman’s life in danger).
it's like saying you're 'rescuing' a pet. Which, honestly, makes total sense in relation to these people.
Babies aside, I cannot believe that soulless b i t c h got only 20 years.
But today, millions of American women have lost fundamental constitutional protection. President Joe Biden condemned the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade on Friday, saying it represented "a realization of an extreme ideology and a tragic error."
"With Roe gone, let’s be very clear: the health and life of women in this nation are now at risk," Biden said. "This is an extreme and dangerous path the court is now taking us on." Biden promised in a White House speech to "do everything in my power" to protect abortion rights.
I get the idea of what they are trying to say in this tweet, but it doesn't sit right with me. Those "424,000" children in foster care are actual human beings who deserve more consideration than being used for snark value or a flippantly offered solution that is meant to shame the weirdos with the creepy "we'll adopt your baby" signs. I'm not sure if I'm expressing my thoughts very clear. I know what I mean but putting it in words isn't always my strong suit
Since it’s up to states to decide whether abortion will remain legal or not, some of them have already decided to do away with it — abortion is now banned in at least seven states. According to The New York Times, "About half of states are expected to allow bans or other limits on the procedure to take effect. In several states, the status of abortion isn’t settled: Courts must determine the fate of existing restrictions, or lawmakers are expected to propose new laws to restrict abortion access. In others, abortion rights are protected by state law, and legislators may move to expand access." You can find a more detailed list of where abortion is prohibited, is likely to be banned, legal for now, and likely to remain protected here.
And as if pregnancy and giving birth itself was a walk in the park and not something that WILL seriously affect your body long-term and might even kill you (mortality of pregnant women is much higher than average).
Well, it says in the bible that some people ARE livestock, i.e. slaves.
Even though "We Will Adopt Your Baby" and similar signs have been circulating on social media, their logic is flawed. The "solution" they propose to a problem and the very valid, very real concerns that millions of Americans face now is ignorant. As so many experts and people with experience in these circumstances have pointed out, adoption is not the opposite of (or a solution for) abortion. However, the idea that adoption is a magical cure for unplanned pregnancy and a substitute for abortion is far from new, and anti-abortion activists have been making this argument for decades. But it’s completely wrong.
Ugh every time I see this couple, all I can think is their muzzle control is pathetically bad. I don't own any guns but I grew up with guns and I learned proper handling. These two are one balloon pop from killing someone. Only EVER point a gun at something you WANT to SHOOT. Otherwise MUZZLE DOWN.
I'm soooo glad and relieved that I'm not the only one who gets those probably-creepy-cult-members vibes. It's a completely irrational, subjective gut feeling and maybe they are the nicest, most liberal, hard working, stellar-parenting... people on earth buuuut my gut feeling is different.
Anna North, a senior reporter for Vox stated that seeing adoption as a stand-in for abortion "ignores the very real dangers people face when they carry any pregnancy to term. Maternal mortality has been rising in the US for 20 years." These high maternal mortality rates, especially among minority groups, have become a systemic issue and something the nation is not paying enough attention to.
Because couples like that only want a blond hair, blue eyed infant.
Are you f.u.c.k.i.n.g. kidding me? Are they for real saying all that out loud where the public can read it?? And thinking they are somehow the ones in the right??
North pointed out there are numerous problems with thinking of adoption as a substitute for abortion. "In order to choose adoption for a child, someone still has to carry a pregnancy to term and give birth," she wrote, adding there are plenty of medical risks involved in the process. Moreover, there are also social aspects to consider, "from fielding unwanted questions to potential abuse from family members or partners who find out about the pregnancy."
Then there’s the pregnancy discrimination with many women being left on the sidelines at their companies, and the emotional toll that goes hand in hand with being forced to carry a pregnancy to term. Especially when you don’t want to.
After watching this movie I had a nightmare that I was trapped upside down and someone was trying to sew buttons onto my eyes (sorry, this was kinda random)
So it’s extremely unsettling to see these couples holding up the signs and looking to fill their homes with babies from forced births. Especially when you count on the fact that on any given day, there are nearly 424,000 children in foster care in the United States. Why don’t these kids get the attention of the evangelical couples who are seemingly very keen to adopt them? No wonder their blatant statement is causing a stir online, with thousands of people sharing their opinions and expressing anger, and for good reason.
Honestly, the White Walkers were probably the best parents in all of Westeros, not that that's a high bar.
I know a Christian couple (no idea where they stand on abortion, this is the UK, but I wouldn't be surprised if they quietly didn't agree with it) and they did adopt two children from the system. They have had their ups and downs with medical needs and behavioural issues over the years, but they have loved and cherished those kids. One is now adult and out in the world, and one is getting there. I am not a Christian, but that is the sort of Christianity that shows the religion in a good light. Not preaching to others but living their beliefs day in, day out. They did not "have" to wait until a newborn 'clean slate' came along to act on their beliefs.
That's because REAL Christians prove their faith by deeds and not by words.
Load More Replies...If they are willing to adopt, they would have done so all ready. Hypocrites.
Exactly! And if the children are so precious who cares how old they are? These twats want other women to be incubators for babies so they don't have to adopt an older child. Fu*kers.
Load More Replies..."We will adopt your baby" Unless it is a different race, has any form of health issues, not blonde with blue eyes, etc.
Yes, that's what I tell people. They don't want Hispanic babies or black babies or mentally challenged or physically challenged.. If they have to take a child of color, they will go to India or China and buy a baby.
