We Went To Budapest To Participate In Mangalitsa Festival, But We Found An Abandoned Chateau (22 Photos)
Have you ever changed your plans during the trip? It happens often to us and we are always pleasantly surprised. Last winter we traveled to Budapest to see Mangalitsa Festival on Liberty Square. We were tasting the good mangalitsa meat on booths and we saw a spectacular tenement house. Not only spectacular but also abandoned. Actually it was a paradise for urban explorers. We gave up our culinary plans in favor of urbex plans. And… We regret nothing! This abandoned building called Adria was erected for the shipping company. You may ask “Does Hungary have access to the sea?” The answer is: Currently no, but it had before WWI. Due to the loss of access to the sea, the shipping company collapsed. Next, the chateau was a headquarter for many organizations, but today is abandoned. Only sometimes movies are shot there. You can see Adria palace in Blade Runner, Balck Widow, Houdini, and many others. Ok, but probably you would like to see the photos from our trip? You can find them below and we hope you’ll enjoy them :)
