The Sirens of FantaSea, otherwise called @marzie_e and @heathersketcheroos, have been working tirelessly on forming a world of magic, ocean, lore, and creatures we adore. We set out to create an art book that let us draw and illustrate the things we love.
For our initial independent title launch, we wanted to find something that was near and dear to us both. From there, we narrowed in on our love of the ocean and its creatures – combining that interest with our background in Fantasy Art.
Since that day, many pencil shavings and digital Wacom pen tips later…it came to be! We used our tools to weave a world of oceanic depths, mermaids, sharks, and other fantastical beings below the ocean. We wanted to share some of our tools with you as well. Here are some of the ones we used on the book:
@heathersketcheroos
I use Prismacolor col-erase for sketching, Carbothello pencils for soft color gradients, Prismacolor pencils for detailing, and sometimes acrylic/gel pens as well. All of it goes onto Moleskine pretty nicely!
They are my favorite paper/sketchbooks to work with. They typically have binding to keep the books closed when I am not using them, which is great for when I drop them…far too often. So no bent pages due to my clumsiness!
@marzie_e
I use Copic Markers and Prismacolor Col-Erase for sketching. Moleskine a lot for sketchbooks as well. I also use a refillable sketchbook, that was handcrafted in Italy. I use scanning and DSLR Photography for digital conversion of traditional sketches. Once digitized, I work using a 24 inch HD Cintiq Touch in Adobe Photoshop CC with custom brushes.
Since launching, we have been so appreciative of the response that we wanted to take a moment and share some of what we used to create the art with you!
