I Wrote And Illustrated A Story Dedicated To Girl Empowerment
I wrote and illustrated a story that focuses on girl empowerment.
This is an important issue for me. It even became personal to me when on May 23, 2014 it was reported that a 15-year-old girl in Kurdistan (Northern Iraq), who was forced to marry a 40 year old man, was brutally killed and mutilated. I was in shock when I heard that it was normal. There are so many issues that affect young girls today – female genital mutilation, child marriages, sexual assault, child prostitution, restricting girls to have an education and so on.
Therefore, I wanted to highlight the importance of seeing a young girl as an active agent in her own life, not just a receiver for the decisions made by everyone else. I hope the story will encourage people to seek some changes. I completed the story on the 25th July, 2014.

Yeah I liked this character - she is based on the children I work with in the Syrian refugee camp back in Iraq. Thank you for your support.

Awesome!! Can I buy a book of this? I would love to give it to my niece!
Just print it. I don't want money from it - what I want is that every girl gets strength from this story.

Children I believe are more perceptive than we adults believe. And it is important for them to know that their voice is counted.
