Student’s Faucet Design Saves Water By Swirling It Into Beautiful Patterns
Simin Qiu, a design student in London’s Royal College of Art, has come up with a luxurious-looking Swirl Faucet that will save water by turning it into a beautiful, elegant, swirling spiral.
Qiu’s design works by sending the water through a double turbine, which spirals as water moves through it, creating an elaborate and beautiful lattice of water streams. The turbine also limits the flow of water by 15%, meaning that you waste less when using it! 3 different nozzles let users choose which water-saving design they’d rather use.
The design, which also won an iF Design concept award in 2014, is operated with a touch button on top, which helps it retain its sleek and elegant look.

How can there not be one comment about how this is impossible? this DEFIES PHYSICS
it isn't spinning the water- instead its 'stacking' the water to create the look. the water is only falling, while the nozzle spins.
Load More Replies...I'd love to keep it as a unique show piece...haha But seriously awesome design that saves water...
I doubt if it is going to save water because it is so beautifull to look at that you leave the tap running longer to look at it
California water has so much dirt and sand in thewater. Would need to be filtered. One grain of sand would cause the screens to malfunction
That will get mineralized super fast and the patterns will be ruined.
I have better solution to save water and it comes with no cost... Every wash basin has a k**b below it, just turn it little to reduce the water flow - refer my work at https://yourwellwisherprogram.wordpress.com/2016/06/24/simplest-way-to-save-water-in-the-world/ Save-Water...ab9348.jpg
that's just an idea, but will not work this way. the pictures are fake!
If it actually can do what it says it can do then I want to know where I can get it.
I wonder how long it will take until lime scale makes the turbines useless.
Get a prototype made, then apply to appear on Shark Tank and get some funding. Phenomenal!
That is so awesome!! You should go on Shark Tank and get some funding! Phenomenal idea!!
Cool aesthetics! Innovative nozzle designs promising for saving water. Similar? tririg.com/articles.php?id=2013_01_High_Sierra_Showerhead
Love comments on how people will let water run just to gawk! :-) Very cool to see new nozzle designs tackle water conservation challenges!

Beauty is lessened when you try and keep square corners ( on the sink ) clean. A truncated sink would help, but not solve problem.
Where can we buy this faucet, because the pictures were all photoshopped only.
I don't care how it does it. I think it's a great invention. I'm not going to worry about if this defies physics. I just want it.
this saves nothing. A given amount of water is always the same no matter what it flos through. If I need a cup of water its always the same
This doesn't save water. A given amount of water is the same amount of water whatever it flows through.
This one needs a video! I bet even a 10 second one will be watched a million times :)
I've never cared for things so sleek they were sterile. Simin Q wows the imagination. I want his work in every room.
I don't see how it would save on water when I'd be playing with it for hours! Well done Simin!
Are the turbines moving parts? If so, the money you save on water, you'll eventually spend (and probably more so) on replacement parts.
i think that if this were being made into bigger tunnells and instantly frozen and cut in half we would have great half circle bobsled tracs
please can anyone concerned person tell me the official website ..
great innovative design.. it shows that there is no limits to what our minds can help us to achieve..*thumbs up*.
Awesome, some people are thankfully, way too smart !! They are the keepers of our future !!
I would love that in my Kitchen but do I have to pay extra for the fancy swirl ? How easy would it be to remove lime accumulation ?
Beautiful. Looks like it'd work well, beats the being splashed back by heavy flow, or narrow dribble when turned down, with my old taps.
I want it but husband said he would never get me out the bathroom!
Well it must be on the market right now or it is just a concept going to get lost...
Where can I purchase this? This student should be praised for his insight into creating something sustainable AND beautiful! :)
Wow! What an elegant and stunning water faucet. That's so awesome that it saves water too! Fantastic post!
Physically impossible! Anyone with a high school physics education would see right through this
Nice but does it really save water? By limiting the flow? What about opening the tab a 30% less.
I would love to see this go into full production and purchase for my clients
Fabuleux. L'Or Bleu mis en valeur. Que d'ingéniosité. Bravo!! De Marie du pays de l'Or Bleu ...
I'd love to keep it as a unique show piece...haha But seriously awesome design that saves water..
the best this would be to use the tech to help people and countries that need it the most
Is it really saving up water? Is it because we, lets say, wash hands for 1 minute and it's using less water per minute? Or it's sth else?
Anyway love the idea. Looks really pretty and we need as much beauty in everyday life as we can get.
