Volcanoes Are Grand And Majestic – That’s My Inspiration For The New Ceramic Collection.
What was I thinking this morning? That we are all in a hurry. Our lives are accelerating more and more. If we can already transfer or automate some activities, we immediately think of ten more tasks to do.
This is what I thought about this morning, when I gave the courier my parcel with ceramic vases for a beautiful interior photo shoot. There is little room in our lives for contemplation and self-consciousness in the here and now. Nature is our lifeline. Only when we are alone with it can we find ourselves. Nature is perfect. It is our and my source of inspiration.
In my creative work, images of nature are among the most important. Therefore, I have a unique opportunity to decorate our microcosm with my works: flats, houses, offices.
All my life, as long as I can remember, I have been painting. Since childhood, I wanted to put on paper the bright rays of the sun, the crystal clarity of morning, the blinding whiteness of snow and the majesty of mountain peaks at dawn. I always felt that I could reproduce my feelings and impressions with a brush and paints. A few years ago, ceramics became another way of connecting the real world with the world of images. As an interior designer, I am particularly sensitive to how works of art and unique décor can shape a beautiful interior around oneself. So at a certain point, ceramics became a way for me to fill the gap in author’s decor and at the same time come up with different images for my ceramic decor series to decorate spaces.
The Volcano collection is expressive in form, the vases. I can categorise them as sculptural ceramics. The image is easy for anyone to read. Smooth, flowing lines, like lava flowing down a slope. The black colour of the clay is not black at all, but complex, like frozen lava, like ash. The glaze on the surface only slightly changes the natural surface of the fired chamotte. And gold could not be avoided. It accentuates the plasticity of the piece.
