During last year I got excited about image processing all over again. For years I’ve tried many different ways of image processing, only to notice that I couldn’t handle all the techniques well enough to be satisfied with the end result. I’ve had this same problem with one of my picture ideas that I’ve been pondering in my mind for over ten years. The big idea was to photograph a Warhammer 40k -costume and create a tribute to the cover art of the game. I wanted it to remind all of the illustrations in the books and cover arts. At the end of 2016 I became inspired by “Digital Arts Masterclass” online course held by Antti Karppinen. Again, my excitement overran my skills but nevertheless I began to search costumes from the Internet. Cosplay has become extremely popular over the last few years and I was able to find some costumes quite effortlessly, only to realize that the distances were too long. Luckily I found an amazing costume maker, Pilerud’s Cosplay directly from my neighboring country. I contacted Pilerud’s and we were able to set up a date for a photoshoot in his hometown Västerås. Regardless the fact that our photoshoot only took about 12 hours with the travel time counted in, I spent over twenty hours to create the final image. I’ve been planning to finish this photo since last spring, but there was never enough time. Now at the end of July I had all the time in the World and I slowly began to create this composite picture from tiny pieces. Surely my skills in image processing were a lot better compared to last spring, which made building this image a lot easier.
