With so much information being thrown at us on a daily basis, it’s easy to lose focus and drift into apathy. Who cares about so many things at once, anyway?
No wonder more and more people are drawn to this old-time form of systematized information accompanied by great visualization. We’re talking maps. And not just dusty maps from your attic, but the most fascinating pieces that present things we know (and the ones we don’t!) in a refreshing light.

There Is A Lake In Finland, That Looks Like Finland
In case you're wondering, because I looked it up immediately when I had learned about it: It's manmade, was made in 1991, is 116 meters long, and a 1:10,000 scale of Finland! The construction engineer was Esko Sääskilahti. It was going to be the Centerpoint of a tourist village, but that part was never completed. The lake took a week to excavate. Hope you enjoyed learning some more! :-)

Probably 'counties', not countries. Edit 5 hours later to add: hmm, they changed the title from 'countries' to 'counties' so this comment now confusing, "huh?".

UN Vote To End US Embargo Against Cuba
The cold war is over, a new one about to start, if we're lucky to not get into a hot one - I'd want Cuba by my side rather than allied with the opponent... You know, just because some conservative digheads are still salty about it, some 30 years after cold war's end, the bloqueo should end as well. It's literally good for nothing.
The US won't lift the embargo until the Cuban government allows for fair Democratic elections.
Load More Replies...sadly ironic that we embargoed Cuba because "they're communist and don't hold free and fair elections and they're communist" but we never embargoed the USSR, or East Germany, or any other communist country. In fact it seems to me that we only embargo small countries that somehow humiliated us, ie Cuba (Bay of Pigs) , North Korea (by simply existing when we don't want it to) and Vietnam (by winning a war against us). Not that we're petty and vindictive or anything,
That is just ultra vindictiveness. USA, grow up, put your big girl pants on and let the little guy get on with being a better place to live instead of acting like the school bully having a decades long tantrum against an ex girlfriend because she did something he didn't like ....
Big businesses in the US will be able to exploit the Cuban economy & it's people just like the good ole days. 50 years later they can have another revolution & things will go back to abnormal again.
So, if the vote passed would the US actually do it? I guess it depends on which regime we are under at the time.
In the 1960's Cuba allowed the Soviet Union to put their nuclear weapons on their island. This, understandably, was much too close to the US mainland. After some talks between the US and the Soviet Union, the ships carrying the nuclear warheads turned back but since then, the US has punished Cuba for allowing it.

In my country (South Africa) we have terrible crime rates. Some say bringing the death penalty back would reduce it but Europe is a good example that that would not be the case.
