With so much information being thrown at us on a daily basis, it’s easy to lose focus and drift into apathy. Who cares about so many things at once, anyway?
No wonder more and more people are drawn to this old-time form of systematized information accompanied by great visualization. We’re talking maps. And not just dusty maps from your attic, but the most fascinating pieces that present things we know (and the ones we don’t!) in a refreshing light.

There Is A Lake In Finland, That Looks Like Finland
In case you're wondering, because I looked it up immediately when I had learned about it: It's manmade, was made in 1991, is 116 meters long, and a 1:10,000 scale of Finland! The construction engineer was Esko Sääskilahti. It was going to be the Centerpoint of a tourist village, but that part was never completed. The lake took a week to excavate. Hope you enjoyed learning some more! :-)
A World Map Drawn By Ottoman Sailor Ali Macar Reis In 1567 (Considered The Most Accurate In The Time Period)

So if you look at ancient maps, many of them included it in varying sizes
Load More Replies...If this isn't irrefutable 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙛 that Australia does not exist then I don't know what is!
Has Java, Sumatra. Must be one of the first maps not to show the mythical island of Taprobana (a huge island between India and Malaysia)
Terra Australis Incognita. Hypothetical continent in southern hemisphere that turned out to be Antarctica. Perhaps that protrusion on the left might be Australia? It was "discovered" not long after this map was drawn. People suspected there might be land.
Besides North America being as wide as Ireland it’s pretty darn good. Still flat though. Round earthers eat my shorts!! (Kidding, geez)
Might have copied it from a Piri Reis (1465 - 1553)(maybe a relative?) who was in possession of very similar maps. But who did not draw these maps himself !!! Question of where those maps originated is still open.
I was assuming the green was the water and I was like “precise??”, then it all came into focus and I 🤦🏻♀️
