There Is A Lake In Finland, That Looks Like Finland
In case you're wondering, because I looked it up immediately when I had learned about it: It's manmade, was made in 1991, is 116 meters long, and a 1:10,000 scale of Finland! The construction engineer was Esko Sääskilahti. It was going to be the Centerpoint of a tourist village, but that part was never completed. The lake took a week to excavate. Hope you enjoyed learning some more! :-)

Concentration Of Castles In Europe
What is the definition of a castle? I’m sure, in Hungary we have had much less castles.
Would have been nice if they had shown all of Europe instead of just western Europe though...
It's an area called the 'Landes' which was historically very marshy (you might remember a picture on here a few days ago of the shepherds of the Landes who got about on stilts) so I guess the land was too soft for building castles on.

"Fort la Latte, or the Castle of the Rock Goyon, FRANCE : This impressive castle was built on a small piece of land at the Bay of the Fresnay in the 14th century. Various films have been shot at this site, including The Vikings (1958) by Richard Fleischer with Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis." la-latte-6...d67e0a.jpg

"The word castle was introduced into English shortly before the Norman Conquest to denote this type of building, which was then new to England . Towards the end of the Middle Ages, castles tended to lose their military significance due to the advent of powerful cannons and permanent artillery fortifications; as a result, castles became more important as residences and statements of power. A castle could act as a stronghold and prison but was also a place where a knight or lord could entertain his peers. Comfortable homes were often fashioned within their fortified walls. Although castles still provided protection from low levels of violence in later periods, eventually they were succeeded by country houses as high status residences."
" This 11th century chateau in Thuir, France, wears the scars of battle well. Attacked many times, the fort-like property still has cannonballs embedded in the walls. " thuir-6390...0775b9.jpg
