Disgusting Or Not? Vaginal Knitting – One Of The Most Unusual Performing Acts Ever
A couple of years ago, Casey Jenkins, a 34 years old performer based in Melbourne, felt free to express herself as an artist and spent more than a month on knitting performance, simply called “vaginal knitting”.
She was able to create her masterpiece using only wool ball, put inside her body, actually inside her vulva and two needles in her hands of course. With these simple tools, she performed her idea to all visitors of a gallery in Australia.
She told that there is nothing shocking or scary about this kind of performance and it is not painful at all. Her main idea was to ignore all the negative associations and taboos around naked women body and, in particular, the woman’s vagina. Free to like or dislike, comment or share, just don’t be scared to express yourself.

“Everyday I take a new skein of wool that’s been wound so that it will unravel from the center and I stick it up inside me”
“Then I pull out the thread and knit”
“I hope that people question the fears and the negative associations they have with the vulva”

Share on FacebookThat's just disgusting. She's NOT knitting with her "vulva" she's just holding her yarn in a place that will make the yarn wet, probably smells and obviously from the photos bloody. There's nothing "freeing" about this at all. Yuck.
its not art, its kinda gross with the menstrual blood and I don't see how it helps with fears of a naked woman or her vagina.
I think she should take her menstrual days off. As a male, periods never grossed me out in any way...any way. I guess she thinks it adds to her shock value to knit her menstrual blood into the fabric. I give her a one half star rating. As for 'negativity toward women's naked bodies, I guess she hasn't been around much or else she missed the point of any such negativity.
That's absolutely rediculus. The things people do to get noticed. Sad really.
I think, just because you can, does not always mean you should...I missed the point doing this??

Yes, it`s really unusual practice of performing. This girl is more than underground practicing.
A good idea to shock and to get into the headlines. I personally do not like.
Unique and creative. Why be grossed-out? It could means that all of us have been grown somewhere nearby vagina- in mother's uterus- and the knitted wool is used as a metaphor for the people of the world. And the woman is the mother nature.
