It was a couple years after graduating film school that I realized filmmaking might not be for me after all. Graphic design had always been The Other Thing I was interested in and some time after turning 29, I realized, "I need to go back to school! I can't be a temp forever!" So back to school I went: Florida Atlantic University (magna cum laude '15). I was one of maybe two or three students who infused their work with any kind of pop culture influence and I soon realized that the ultimate goal was to combine both interests: film/TV and graphic design.
After quitting my first post-school design job, I read about a designer who was doing one movie poster a day. I was in a funk and naturally I thought, "Why not me?" I enjoy the challenge of creating a singular image that needs to encapsulate an entire narrative - the simpler the better. (Wittier is best!) My heroes are guys like Midnight Marauder, Brandon Schaefer, Peter Mendelsund, Neil Kellerhouse, and Adam Juresko - designers who favor photographic over purely illustrative solutions. In any case, it's been a fun ride and I've encountered all sorts of wonderful and creative people!
