I had two Newfs in my life for many years. They are the most wonderful dogs: calm, tolerant, and eager to be always near their people. If you have issues though with strings of slobber over the furniture, walls and ceiling, and/or if you have a problem with balls of fur in every corner and under every piece of furniture, a daschund might be better... ;-)

These are exceptional but I love all dogs. You can photograph them in a puddle of mud and I would still think they are adorable.
