Mothers (61%) are more likely than fathers (49%) to say that they spend too much time on their phones, as are White parents (60%) compared to their Black (52%) and Hispanic (46%) "colleagues."
Parents' assessments of their social media use follow similar patterns, with parents who are female, White, younger, and who are more educated claiming they spend too much time on these sites.

The phenomenon of parents posting about their children on social media, sometimes referred to as "sharenting," has been the subject of many editorials and opinion pieces in recent years. As many as 82% of parents who use social media say they have posted photos, videos and/or other information about their children on these sites.
Of those, again, women are more likely than men to say they have done this (89% vs. 71%), as are younger parents – between the ages of 18 and 49 – than their older — 50 and up — counterparts.

A big reason why 'Stuff Mom Groups Say' doesn't run out of content is ease of use. 76% of parents who post about their kids on social media say that the ability to effortlessly share things about their children with friends and family is a major factor in their activity, while smaller but meaningful portions say it comes from a desire to showcase their children's accomplishments (36%), and peer pressure — sharing because other parents they know share these things (11%).

Michelle Brown, the host of The Pondering Stepmom Podcast, said, "Some mothers are quick to judge the parenting of a fellow mom by pointing out failed parenting methods or perceived behavioral flaws in other people's children."

It's not allowed everywhere. In Germany, for example, your child has to go to school. You can choose a private school (there are not as many as in the US), but even private schools have to meet the educational standards set by the state. The homeschooling/unschooling movement is a leftover from the pioneer times when some kids lived too far away from a school, and also the freedom of religion idea. It needs to change.

There are certain schools where the children choose when and what to learn, however - and it's a big however - they are in a safe, organised environment with set mealtimes, classrooms for different subjects,and qualified teachers. There are lots of alternative activities they can do if they don't feel like doing something academic, but surprisingly enough, most children actually decide they want to learn maths, reading,editing, etc. The idea is to maximise their learning, critical thinking and creativity, and it works. But it is nothing like these "unschooling" morons seem to think it is.

I am kinda speechless... unschooling? Sounds like not teaching kids actual things. Homeschooling is one thing... I'm all for that as long as guidelines and such are followed and kids are actually learning and where they should be... but letting them do whatever whenever?? Uhhhmmmm... nope! People like this aren't crazy, they are STUPID. She either doesn't realize or care how dangerous this can be for her and the baby. She's still nursing her 8 yo, that's not for the kid, that's for her and she needs to see a shrink for it. They also need to get those wild animals potty trained and start teaching them so they will be on the same level as the other kids. The 8 yo is so far behind that he is gonna be bullied a lot.

This is a good question, in Wales (part of the UK), they have decided that if your child is not potty trained by the time they start school; unless there is a certified medical reason, you the parent must come in and change their nappies. It will no longer be the responsibility of the teachers. Children start school at four (4) years old; what's my fellow Pandas opinion on this?

My neighbour, a chap in his early 30's, got 5 kids, hasn't vaccinated any of them, he believes that they inject you with all sorts of rubbish, doctors are quacks, and covid wasn't as bad as the governments around the world made out it to be, thinks the police are a waste of time and the illegal immigrants are to blame for all of it. I'm convinced he's going to be on national TV news for doing something awful. I've said to him numerous times he needs to see a doctor, but to no avail.

I fear for society. These kids will soon be running things and making decisions for all of us. The whole "home school" trend is terrifying. Public schools at least try to teach the basics that all kids need in the world, so if these are the people homeschooling, where is that going to lead? The antivaxers are going to bring back preventable diseases, and their own children, as well as others, will suffer. Kids need structure so that they can blend into society instead of difficult. Society kind of depends on it.
