The internet can be a nice—or a bad—place. Sometimes, even both at the same time. It all depends on where you look.

Take parenting, for example. Dive into articles, forums, and social media, and you'll find a mix of heartfelt advice, heated debates, and downright bizarre drama. Whether it's a debate on the cost of childcare, or a sad multi-level marketing pitch, these spaces can be equal parts supportive and absurd.

That's where '[Stuff] Mom Groups Say' comes in. Created in 2018, this subreddit has grown to 421K members and continues to judge the "no-judgment" culture.

Two-thirds (66%) of parents say raising kids is harder today than it was two decades ago and just 7% report it is easier, while 26% think it is about the same.

At the same time, more than half of parents believe they spend too much time on their phones (56%), with smaller shares saying this about the amount of time they spend on social media (36%) or playing video games (11%).

Putting rice cereal into milk is part of the transition to solid food. However, it should be spoon fed rather than put in a bottle.

Reading this brought back memories of a neighbor who used to open huge holes in nipples and put it in bottles because she was too lazy to spoon feed.

If the kid is old enough for solids, then they should have it as food, not some weird solid-fluid mix. It's a choking hazard. It's not even an easy type of thing for an adult to drink, so why would people give it to a toddler?

Guess I'm missing something because when my kids were babies they had special bottles exactly for this purpose. The biggest problem I see with modern parenting is thinking the child shouldn't get anything but formula for 6 months. Young doctor told us that when my first was born. Resulted in his stomach and muscles not developing as they should. Luckily, we didn't listen to this insanity long and changed doctors who immediately had us start feeding him cereals and baby food and things soon became normal.

My doctor recommended it starting at age 4 months. We rarely did it because he was also eating solids. But some babies need it in order to get their weight up to where they need to be. I have 12y/o, 10y/o, and 7 month old. 7 month old is mainly breast fed now but at the start I had to pump and add formula to my breastmilk and cereal because he lost almost a whole lb in two weeks after he was born. I had PLENTY of milk but it didn’t have enough calories apparently. So in some instances it is ok. However, do not do it without you peds recommendation and follow their exact instructions. We also had to add pb powder to his milk (which he absolutely hated) he’s now almost 7 months old and just got to 15lbs

Rice cereal in a bottle- noo big deal- Try Baby-led weaning! It is a practice where babies 6 months old or older jump straight to finger foods as soon as solids are introduced, bypassing purees and mashed-up foods. As a mom who has only known bottle to pureed and mashed foods, watching my daughters roommate do this, it was so hard! I happened to be there the day her baby was 6 months old so mom decided her baby was ready. She gave her daughter scrambled eggs, some toast and avocado. When she put too much in her mouth and choked a little, the baby spit it out, put a smaller amount in and tried again. It was crazy to watch but the mom said thats exactly what to expect- they learn quickly what is too much. I was a nervous wreck!

I hate the idea of baby led weaning. The baby learns by choking. The same people here worried about cereal bottles causing choking. Which, you’re feeding the baby, so you would see if it choked. And if it’s not too thick they don’t choke. Are the same people encouraging others to let their baby choke and gag repeatedly to learn how to eat.

The phenomenon of parents posting about their children on social media, sometimes referred to as "sharenting," has been the subject of many editorials and opinion pieces in recent years. As many as 82% of parents who use social media say they have posted photos, videos and/or other information about their children on these sites.

Of those, again, women are more likely than men to say they have done this (89% vs. 71%), as are younger parents – between the ages of 18 and 49 – than their older — 50 and up — counterparts.

A big reason why 'Stuff Mom Groups Say' doesn't run out of content is ease of use. 76% of parents who post about their kids on social media say that the ability to effortlessly share things about their children with friends and family is a major factor in their activity, while smaller but meaningful portions say it comes from a desire to showcase their children's accomplishments (36%), and peer pressure — sharing because other parents they know share these things (11%).

Mutual animosity can also be an element that leads parents to posting edgier content in these groups. Michelle Brown, the host of The Pondering Stepmom Podcast, said, "Some mothers are quick to judge the parenting of a fellow mom by pointing out failed parenting methods or perceived behavioral flaws in other people's children."

"This is an ever-evolving problem. With the influx of mom reels and videos on social media, the mom comparison game has significantly impacted mothers everywhere," she explained.

This is a good question, in Wales (part of the UK), they have decided that if your child is not potty trained by the time they start school; unless there is a certified medical reason, you the parent must come in and change their nappies. It will no longer be the responsibility of the teachers. Children start school at four (4) years old; what's my fellow Pandas opinion on this?
