Michelle Li, a news anchor at KSDK-TV in St. Louis, Missouri received a racist voicemail from one of her viewers after opening up aboutone of her her cultural traditions. The Korean-American said at the end of a 30-second segment about New Year’s Day that she, like many other Koreans, eat dumpling soup in celebration of the new year.

“Hi, this evening your Asian anchor mentioned something about being Asian, and Asian people eat dumplings on New Year’s Day. And I kind of take offense to that because what if one of your white anchors said, ‘Well White people eat this on New Year’s Day’. I don’t think it was very appropriate that she said that, and she was being very Asian. I don’t know. She can keep her Korean to herself,” said the person on the call.

Li responded to the absurd and hateful commentary by writing a post
