(Update since article was first published: Shortly these patterns will also be available as fabric to purchase by the yard, wallpaper and wrapping paper. To find out when this rolls out, please join my Facebook page listed below – thank you!)
Hi, I’m Jane, a Mum and photographer from Melbourne, Australia. I’ve been having fun lately, turning some of my photographs into interesting and intricate patterns. I find particularly with my macro and coloursplash photos, when I tile my photographs in a certain way, incredible patterns are created. When there’s depth of field, bokeh and other interesting backgrounds, they create a 3D effect to the pattern.
Nearly all of the original photos were straight off the camera (or iPhone with Ollo-clip lens) with no post-editing. The only editing has been the tiling effects.
I think they look amazing for fabric designs and have added them to my Redbubble site where they can be found on dresses, t-shirts, hoodies, scarves, leggings, contrast tanks, chiffon tops, kids clothes as well as homewares such as throw pillows, duvet covers, mugs, stationery, wall-art and more.
They are unique and beautiful.

Dahlias – Pattern
Dahlias
These were taken with my Nikon and I did use a setting but I can’t remember which one – could have been “vivid” or “toy”
Agapanthus Bokeh Pattern
I think this is my favourite.
Agapanthus Bokeh – Original
I know a lot of people say Agapanthus are weeds and they try to eradicate them, particularly in Melbourne but I just love them. We get them in white, lilac and dark purple near our house and I think they are so pretty and so lovely to photograph.

Pink Stamen Macro – Pattern
Anyone who knows me will tell you how much I can’t stand the colour pink but I just love this! I think it’s one of my favourites.

Rainbow Rose – Pattern
This is the only pattern where the original photo was edited. It just had a rainbow filter put over it and I always loved how it looked, especially as I don’t do a lot of filters and editing with my photography.

BnW Rose with Droplets – Pattern
It seems I’ve put effects on this photograph but it really was just luck on the day. It was an overcast day, rain had fallen and with the light hitting the very white rose, it just turned out like this and I love it.

Feather Droplets Macro – Pattern
Feather Droplets Macro – Original
I just happened to find this feather on the lawn one day after a night of rain the droplets were sitting so perfectly on it.
Fuchsia Flowers – Pattern
I don’t think the original of this photograph is particularly brilliant but I really love how it comes up in the pattern

Grass Droplets Macro – Pattern
Grass Droplets Macro – Original
This was taken on a freezing cold Winter Melbourne morning when the fields near my daughter’s school were covered in frost and the sun was just coming out. I took this with my iPhone and Olloclip lens and there is no editing. It’s one of my favourites.
Hibiscus Coloursplash – pattern
Some of the patterns become quite abstract – this doesn’t but I just love the background patterns that are formed with the tiling.

Peacock – tiling
With all the other photographs here, I’ve used the whole photograph to tile. With this one, however, I decided to crop a section of the bird to tile.

Purple Stamen Macro – Pattern
I think this is one of the most abstract of the patterns. It really looks more like a digital design that my daughter Izzy does on our site.

Tulip Stamen Macro – Pattern
This is the stamen of one of my favourite types of Tulips. I should know the name but I don’t!! We have a tradition each Spring of going to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival and my daughter and I both enjoy it so much. It’s always the insides of the Tulips that interest me the most, especially this one as it really seems as if gold fairy dust has been sprinkled inside.

Fireworks – Pattern
Most of the photos I’m using for this Collection are macros and nature but I had to throw this one in as I think it looks cool.
