I Create Sinister Digital Art That Shows Nature In A Constant Tension With The Human Body
I got into digital art after my father gave me a 1 megapixel camera back in 2002. I already had spent years painting and drawing and the camera was the perfect tool for endless experimentation. I tried then a scanner and started merging my drawings with my photos because photography was never satisfying to me; my head was always way too up in the clouds to portrait reality, I knew I wanted quiet the contrary, to destroy it and make something new out of it, and what better medium than photomontage to do that?
I'm deeply inspired by flora and its complex shapes. Is what I was mostly surrounded of back in Colombia. There in tropical lands nature is untamed, relentless and merciless, is chaotic and sinister, nature there is so alive that has definitely made me see it not as a part of the landscape but as a pensive being; temperamental and tender, evil and nurturing, and hence, as another character in my works. I like to show nature in a constant tension with the human body (mostly feminine), bending human's will in surreal fusions, triumphant over reason and artifice. Other times nature is in perfect symbiosis with the human disguise, but just for a brief moment, because it makes its way into us with its unforgiving pace, it claims us all.
Dark art is for me the most natural way of expression, is my way to unmask the occult and to mythicize it at the same time, to keep it out of reach and then touch it with visual metaphors. Darkness and fantasy are the tension between wanting to see a clearer reality and being fascinated as well by the mystery that covers it.

Your deepest roots are in nature. No matter who you are, where you live, or what kind of life you lead, you remain irrevocably linked with the rest of creation. - Charles Cook
Before you pledge your undying love to someone, make them promise they won't die.
There is new life in the soil for every man. There is healing in the trees for tired minds and for our overburdened spirits, there is strength in the hills, if only we will lift up our eyes. Remember that nature is your great restorer. - Calvin Coolidge
