Yeah pretty sure when the ancestors were crossing russia wasn't yet a country. Alaska refers to the region as does Siberia. It was a tricky one,

I'm English too - it was tea from China, via the (British) East India Company, England not being famous for actually growing its own tea... The Boston protest was about the recent tax reduction not being big enough (that's me making a cheeky over-simplification) coupled with a really stupid local governor who refused to allow the tea shipment to be returned.
