When I was a little kid, my library book bag was made out of fabric with little rainbows on it AND I had a rainbow blanket my Nana knitted for me. I adored them both and neither had anything to do with my subsequent realisation that I was queer, so bah to this ungrateful idiot.

I don't even know what they mean. Clearly I know that the LGBTQ+ community use the rainbow as a symbol of the spectrum of sexuality and gender identity, but . . . but . . . rainbows have always existed. And have had many different connotations and associations over time. I remember being told that rainbows were the Christian god saying he wouldn't cause another global flood.

This is ridiculous. Before I even know what homosexuality was, I loved an 80s cartoon called "Rainbow Bright.' Not bc it represented anything other than a powerful girl who saved the world in my childhood imagination. I understand that the rainbow flag is the symbol of LGBTQIA+ but I think that the color scheme are beautiful regregardless. Shame on her for acting like it HAS to represent anything else but just a beautiful handmade blanket. I'll take it! Lol

It's pretty bad that you're such a homophobe that random colors set you off. It's not even a rainbow. Even if you didn't want it, take it and be thankful and then give it away or whatever. I would display the blanket and offer to give it to anyone in the office along with that note so they understand what a homophobe she is.

I don't know Jen or her reasoning, and her note is very strongly worded and certainly comes off as ungrateful, but my first thought when I saw this is that it could be considered inappropriate due to the term "Rainbow Baby" where a rainbow on infant clothing is meant to symbolize a child that is born to a couple that had previously had a miscarriage. I know a few people that have displayed discomfort over their newborns wearing clothing with rainbows due to the association with the meaning of a "rainbow baby" as they had not previously had a miscarriage and didn't want to give that impression. Saying that, if this was Jen’s thought process on the matter, she still could have handled it more tactfully. If her objections to the blanket were in fact homophobic in nature, then yeah I agree, screw her!

Still very new to crochet and that looks fabulous!! The level of nastiness proves she was raised poorly. My mother crocheted me a blanket that looks like clown vomit. I thanked her profusely and still have it. A lot of time, effort, and care went into that ugly a*s blanket. I'd be ecstatic if it was as beautiful as this rainbow blanket!

I used very similar cars for my granddaughter's, everyone calls it her 'unicorn blanket'. Colors are just that, colors!! You Did beautiful work. Don't worry about it.
