Artist Who’s Responsible For Making People Cry With ‘Good Boy’ And Black Cat Comics Just Released A Sequel
The perception of black cats varies between cultures but in the West, they generally have been associated with darkness, bad faith, and death. However, artist Jenny Jinya wants to change that. To her, the color of the fur doesn’t matter.
Not so long ago, she created a comic about the life of a black cat. It instantly went viral, so Jenny decided to make a sequel to it.
“There are dozens of posters and infographics with various statistics about abandoned or abused animals. Many know the problems, but such information is quickly forgotten,” Jenny told Bored Panda. “I try to give a voice to the victims with my comics. I want the affected pets to be able to tell their own stories. I hope I can raise awareness this way.”

Here’s the original Black Cat comic in case you haven’t seen it
And here’s the sequel
Luckily, things are beginning to change for the better. Even though numerous organizations (for example, Humane Society for Southwest Washington and Cat Adoption Team in Sherwood) have reported that black adult cats consistently stay longer on the adoption floor than their more colorful counterparts, the Halloween torture thing is becoming more of an urban legend that is a legitimate threat to the felines.
“We certainly do not have any hesitancy about adopting black cats at Halloween,” Deborah Wood, animal services manager for Washington County, told The Oregonian.
According to her, people come to the shelter specifically asking for black cats because they think the stigma around them might make it harder for them to get adopted.
Furthermore, common animal shelters practices require adopters to show identification and conduct an interview with a shelter staff worker before taking home a new pet.
People really loved both of these strips

Share on FacebookThis is sad and adorable at the same time. I said it before and I'll say it again : black cats exist so we can have mini panthers at home. Some people are just too thick to appreciate them
That's so well said!!! Black kitties are the same sweet beans as the others. Plus, they look like lil toothless from HTTYD!
Load More Replies...I feel a sudden urge to go to a shelter and take the cat, which has been there the longest.
Please do! I volunteer at a no-kill shelter and we've had cats that have been there their whole life (19+ years) because they were shy people passed them by. Shy cats can change in a home environment where it is less stressful.
Load More Replies...No, what did you do, I am crying in open office!!! I have a black kitty, she is crazy little ahole but I still love her.
I prefer black cats, always have at least one. mooie-man-...442eb5.jpg
Load More Replies...This hit realy hard. I have a black cat. And she is not evil or bad omen - she is my lucky star.
The first comic is so sad. The second comic is heartwarming. I would never let any harm come to my 3 black rescues....3 year old Spooky (with the sweetest meow you'll ever hear), 2 year old Miko (he's the goofy one of the bunch) and 12 year old "Black Cat" (she's the crazy grumpy one).
Thank you for rescuing them! :-) I have a larger sized black dog (I rescued around Halloween time 15 yrs ago) named Spooky :-) She’s slower these days and hearing impaired, but she’s still enjoying the heck outta life <3
Load More Replies...I had the blackest cat with golden eyes, I rescued him on a parking lot when he was 1 week old called him Bastet and we lived happily together for 18 years. Black wats are cool!
Wow you’re lucky you found him, especially to find him so young so you can be together for his whole life. Lucky you.
Load More Replies...I love black cats. It’s not their fault they had that color, they are just a cat like any other and it almost made me cry in class to see that.
People are so damn weird. It makes me sick. Halloween, witches, rituals ... are we living a.d. 1467??? 😤
All my kittys are rescues not all were black, I've had four black and they were great companions, Now I have Biddy she is all black with a tiny white heart on her belly.
Our home has always had the most unadoptable shelter cats :) As shelter volunteer it was natural to take those at risk of being put down home. But when our old cat passed away, the shelter was more or less empty, of course a good thing. But as we missed having a cat a nice big kitty that was bullied in his home moved to us instead and is now a happy camper :)
I have a cat here we got from a facebook rescue, she would definitely have been put down if she wound up in a shelter. She's got a slight neurological issue, which gives her a weird meow and also causes her to hiss at first, and to attack sometimes. It took me and my wife about 9 months, but we broke through and now she trusts us. She loves to come into my office and sleep on my shoulder while I'm working at my PC. No such thing as a bad kitty, if you have time and patience.
Load More Replies...I’m planning on adopting a black cat next!!! This just made me want to do it more!!!
I had a black cat a couple years ago. Unfortunately she passed away but she was so sweet, following me from room to room just so she wasn't alone. She didn't like to cuddle much, wouldn't let me pet her more than 5 seconds, but she was still the best. Waiting for me during my shower, cuddled on my towel. I miss her. I went and adopted another rescue since then, but will always remember my beautiful black Bella. <3
Reading this for the second time...still tearing up and hugging my black kitty Onyx.
My husband and I have seven cats inside and two outside that we take care of. Five of them are black and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I've saved little tortoiseshell cat (much more black than yellow) and my dearest boy cat whom I've lost this year was a tuxedo (more black than white). They are both great little souls, he loved me more than I coul ever think that cat can love (I have cats my entire life) and I do hope that his cute, little soul will wait for me somewhere on a much better place for both of us.
I have two black dogs and one black cat....I don't know what his first owners did to him, but took him a while to trust me, and sometimes he still doesn't, but I give as much time as he needs
I have a black rescue dog... took a long time for him to trust us. I messed up once, scared him and he bit my face. I now have two scars but I don't blame my dog, it was my fault and I will never regret rescuing my anxious, clumsy little chap. The affection he has shown us since is worth every difficult moment.
Load More Replies...I love the ending! So heartwarming and sad at the same time. Make more please! I love them!
You know what? If you’re gonna irrationally think something, at least think something nice. Like there is a God. Or true love is real. But don’t friggin’ discriminate against adorable black kitties!
I love black cats they have such silky smooth dark coats but unfortunately I am allergic to cats but I wish I wasn't so I could have a black cat this is so sweet
I'm allergic to cats, too--it was a total surprise when I had allergy tests done a year and a half ago. But I'll never give my Diva. She's 18, now and I've had her since she was maybe 5 or 6 weeks old when some local kids brought her to me 'cuz they knew I took in strays. When she finally passes on--may it not be for a long while yet--I'll probably find another cat who'll need someone to love, allergies be damned! That's what Benadryl is for. :-) <3
Load More Replies...My first black cat was named "Lucky", second one named Mamma, third, little Bear, and now I have Biddy. All my kitties were rescues and are great companions.
I volunteer at a shelter and they explain a lot of this stuff. Apparently, we think that there are so many black cats because of superstitions and things like that but in reality, superstition is only about 1/4 of the reason why. The "all black" gene in cats is VERY common, therefore shelters get a LOT of black cats. Also, black cats don't stand out that much rather than on orange tabby or a siamese or something else. And, some people say that "black cats have the same face" so that makes them not stand out even more. This is why some shelters have people that switch their bedding to lighter colors, so they don't blend in, and they write very positive and unique descriptions so their personality stands out. Also, black cats are the best :3 :P
True... I heard some people pass up black cats because they don't photograph well. Seriously, if you skip out on the love of a sweet little black creature because you can't take good photos- there is something horribly wrong with you. I wouldn't trade my little shadows for all the money or pictures in the world!!!
Load More Replies...My family adopted a senior black cat from a shelter who had been there a while and it was the best decision of our lives. She was so ready to just nap and cuddle with us. She's never caused any trouble and I will definitely be adopting older cats in the future!
Many years ago, my ex and I went to a shelter to adopt a kitten. There were no kittens but there were several adult cats. As I was standing next to a cage I thought was empty, I heard a soft meow and an absolutely gorgeous black cat started rubbing against the cage for attention. The volunteers told me that her name was jelly bean and that no one would adopt her because she was old and had liver problems. I decided right there and then that this precious 13 old angel wasn't going to die in a shelter! I took her home and she lived for another 2 years with me before she passed. Losing her broke me, but I would do it all over again!
Load More Replies...Black cats are wonderful! People in some countries are enlightened enough to know how awesome they are!
Black dogs get hit with the 'stupid superstition stick' as well & in Muslim culture they are considered unlucky. Wouldn't it be nice if in the 21st century we could turn this around.
Totally agree. Human made ideas of what is lucky or not are so ridiculous. The colour of people's skin, the colour of fur... why are people so very, very stupid? That they think these things make someone or something different? Something lesser? Fools.
Load More Replies...My cat Crow is one of the most beautiful and playful kitties I've ever known. And he was a rescue (and I got to hear how he was mistreated before I met him). We are his forever home.
Black cats are the absolute greatest. My good boy saved me and is the greatest source of love and affection you could ever ask for. I love my baby panther and he is the best luck I've ever had.
... people adopt cats to sacrifice them? Any cult making one sacrifice anything is rubbish anyway ... the most advanced brain in all known biology, and still some of us believe in pre-enlightment-fairy tales - and the burden of they idiot believes is, as always, placed upon an innocent animal. Black cats are cool. I really enjoyed the 20 years I shared with one.
all cats deserve a loving home, but black cats for sure. There are way more black cats than other colors. kitties-5d...a19c71.jpg
One more thing...animals are like small babies that can't talk and tell you what's wrong. So he kind to them. And anyone who goes out of their way driving or accidentally hits a dog or cat...think of it as a small child. You would stop and help if it was a human. Do the same for someone's pet they prob won't see again. Please drive careful in neighborhoods and take the time to at least check on the animal and call authorities. Thank you.
I had a black cat who was an old girl and unwanted by her family because her new boyfriend was allergic to cats. I took her in and she gave us love so big and huge that it's still here in me every day. I miss her.
Boyfriend should have had allergy treatment. No way am I ever giving up a pet for another human. My pets were and are my family first. How can people act like they are disposable??? Must have learned this about the boyfriend regarding his allergies before 'falling in love'... whilst getting to know him ffs! So glad you got to give that kitty lots of love.
Load More Replies...I love cats in general, but 8 have a soft spot for black cats in particular. My mother had a black cat when I was born, and he looked after me for the rest of his life. I currently have two adorable black cats inherited from my father, who got them at the local shelter a couple years before his death.
I think if you're gonna believe in fairytales at least believe in good ones Like wishing upon a Star or relatives looking over you Not sacrificing innocent creatures for BS
I live where people will do horrific things to black cats: The USA. I have had several black cats in my life, and all bring me love and joy. And, btw, my current one is getting her shiny black fur wet b/c I'm crying...
Those pics of the kitty behind the bars...heartbreaking. I'm sitting here, crying like a baby. I need to go cuddle my dog.
I love the drawings, but i no longer read these stories; my heart can't stand such torture. I got plenty of that from people on the web and on real life.
these always make me cry so hard why are ppl so mean to black kittys they are sooooo sweet
There's only one thing better than having a black cat - having two of them! A brother/sister combo - they are my best friends.
When some one will harm something that is small and helpless, it speaks volumes about their character. Real men will reach out to take care of one of God's littlest and most helpless creatures. My wife had a little black cat twining around her legs as she was doing laundry in our apartment complex. We took her in and have never looked back. Our Tess is an amazing and special cat, she is our comic relief and an amazing acrobat. My wife calls her God's Valentine's day present to her. Our little black cat has stolen both our hearts.
I adopted an "unadoptable" cat from my local "kill shelter"/animal control/pound. I practically had to beg the tech who was showing me cats to let me take her home. The cat was not black, but had a habit of snarling and hissing at people while begging to be petted rubbing on the bars of her cage. She's harmless, she just snarls and hisses out of a learned behavior, probably from improper handling by her previous "owners". She lets me pet her, she loves everyone she meets as well as her "sister-cat" and I am never alone nor without my self-professed "body guard". Look for the lost souls when you adopt and you'll never be disappointed. These comics do break my heart, but the last panel usually heals it.
(Reads this while 16 year old black cat adheres to lap... two more... somewhere, wrecking house...) I read the Jungle Book as a kid and always wanted a Bagheera... now I have three (all named after Marvel superheroes)...
This is beautiful! don't buy, adopt. Support this artist and not only black cats but all Cats young and old in need of adoption. :) ;) :)
Black cats are the best....I have had a thing for black cats all my life and I will be 60 in January. We have 5 cats all rescues and one of them is all black (plus a white one for balance, a grey, a siamese and a tortoiseshell)
We adopted our Hooligan when he was on the last days before the shelter would euthanize him because he was "unadoptable" due to a propensity for biting. We told them we were experienced cat people and showed them that we could handle his behavioral issues. He's now about 12, still a bitey cat but loving and silky.
We've saved a few allegedly "impossible to socialize" cats from "death row". Each ended up socialized just fine... It's people who need the socializing skills, not the cats, IMO!
Load More Replies...We have 2 black cats now, brother and sister. They couldn't have more different personalities and they love us as much as we love them. I've had many black cats over my life, they've all been wonderful! There's no difference between black cats and any other color, or combination of colors. All cats are awesome in their own unique way.
it would be great make something like viral video about adopting black kitty... I found a cat a few week ago, but I couldn't keep her, because I already have one and live with father... I hoped that the little cuddle angel will found home, or rathere there would be a loving family who miss her... but nobody want her. I try to change my father mind about another cat, but he still saying no... so now, I read this comic and crying like a baby.
It's Christmas. Maybe your dad will change his mind? I hope so. Black cats are wonderful and I'm sure your current cat will get use to the new little friend. No kitty really wants to be alone
Load More Replies...Black, white, orange. I love them all but especially black ones. However my present cat needed me most and he is a fluffy spotted tabby. He was semi feral, abused, scared of people. I volunteer in a cat shelter and no one was going to adopt him. After 1-1/2 years of talking to him and playing (he didn't know how) I brought him home. I tell him always that he is a good boy and day by day he is calmer and more relaxed. I loved my black cats dearly, but this one truly needs me and I love him too.
I have seven cats that I've adopted from the streets and farm fields. One of them was a black kitten my neighbor brought to me. She found him in the street in the rain. My hubby and I took him to our emergency vet and had him taken care of. He had a high fever and damage to a leg. I begged them to save his life so long as he won't suffer. Six years later my big black fluff ball "Mr. Torgue" walks with a slight wobble but chirps and purrs and meows everyday at 4 for wet food. We love him and all the others.
There is a black feral female in our neighborhood. She's smart as a whip and keeps far from the crates we put out for her. She has had at least 3 litters. They have all been adopted. The neighborhood looks out for her and she plays through the window panes with our house only cat, who is a black & white Tuxedo. I have seen no difference except in their coloring and would love the feral if I could only catch her to pet.
I'm crying. BTW, the shelter in Irvine, California -- a low-kill shelter -- from which we adopted a dog and cat won't let black cats be adopted near Halloween because of the dangers of abuse, including being killed, that the cats face at that time of year. I hope other shelters have the same policy.
If I was ever in a play or a film and had to cry, I could just look at one of these comics and I'd be off, instantly.
I adopted two black cats (siblings) in 2018. They are the softest, sleekest cats I've ever owned. Plus, they shed the least. And they're extra affectionate. Needless to say, these comics both made me cry (especially the frame where the kitty is terrified because she's going to be put to sleep). Now I want to adopt more.
Black cats are the sweetest, cuddliest beauties. This comic is lovely.
I have 2 black cats and it is ridiculous that people believe those old superstitions! They are one of the most gorgeous cats! Although I think all cats are beautiful. Actually I read recently that thousands of years ago, not sure where, I think maybe Egypt, black cats were considered GOOD LUCK!
now i am crying .for real . this is so wonderfull. i love cats no matter the colour of the furr. colour is just a detail that make all of us different. the world would be so boring just in one colour.
My black cat named Socks was the love of my life. Had him for 17 years - had to put him down last year and I’m weeping as I write this.
I have taken in many cats. The black cats always seem special in their own way. As I was reposting this article, my Bojangles came over to me to be petted.
I can't read these stories without crying, I love my black cat so very much and I love his warm body next to mine in bed when we're going to sleep. I love all my cats no matter their color but my most beautiful one is my black.
Ok, I know this guy's work and last time I promised myself NOT to look at anymore, cause I start sobbing. He makes so powerful messages with that. I'm not crying, you are!
I love my black cat he's my baby I'd miss the hell out of him if he went missing
I remember I had a black Cat growing up, her name was Tilly and she was amazing
i had a black cat named jet but he died when i was 3 :(
Load More Replies...And now I'm sobbing in my living room... God, I wish I could adopt them all. I wish with all my heart that I could.
I typed the link out so you can copy paste instead: https://pictures-of-cats.org/why-are-black-cats-so-unpopular.html
black cats are as cute as usual cats. there are a few in my neighborhood, and they're the best!
"I'll take her!! Young man, will you please hand me that kitten?" " Y-yes ma'am "
Nooo I’m in school reading this TRYING NOT TO CRY so my teacher doesn’t catch me...
My black cat is priceless, so affectionate, so playful, and clever, I think they are special, as I was about to adopt a second kitten, too many to choose from, was told of the black kitten, the last of her litter, I said they are all cute, so I took her home, she helped my other kitten as she was in mourning, missing her dog, a perfect choice, happy days !!!
Damn, I shed real tears . This is the only comic I've read that caused me tears within a few panels alone. The world is so cruel to cats. Black cats were given the worst image by society, bu cats as a species is discriminated against. Cats are always depicted as villians and as selfish creatures. The reality is that they're very soft and loving creatures. You can't read their communication with you the same way you read that of a dog, and too many people make that mistake
I own a black cat and he gives me the best luck i can ever get, one day i was about to take a test and he came up i started to pet him and then i got and a+ and i didn't even study.
Love the story. I have a Black cat and I love her very much .thank you
I cry every time I read this. Over a dozen times now. I hope the artist releases their other comics on Bored Panda. The death puppy met the ghost kitty in one!
They were never adopted for ritual sacrifice, thats that same satanic panic lie that made everyone look like idiots in the 1980s. Cats sacrificed by edgy morons are stolen, not adopted.
I think there should be more of these! I've wanted a black cat all of my life and finally have one. Sometimes she is a pest, but then so am I. She sleeps with me and makes me happy. BTW, I have saved this and re-read it often.
i'm at the office reading this and crying like crazy... i wanna hug my cats so bad...
My lovely 3 legged 14 yr old black cat Scarface had a hard time reading this without being upset. I feel his pain.
I LOVE black cats more than anything! I've yet to meet one who wasn't super sweet, lovable, and smart. How anyone can hurt a black cat.....makes me so angry and sad (for the kitty). This particular comic and it's sequel made me cry and smile at the same time (happy for the kitty's mom getting a home).
On a funnier note, my neighbors long hair black cat disappeared after a loud noise sent him flying out the front door. Several weeks went by and no sign of him. Then the local animal control called saying they found the cat. They go to pick up the cat, paid the "bail" to get him out, take him home..only to see that his personality changed. That's when they discovered he..was actually a she. The animal shelter hadn't even checked to see if that cat was male before calling them. They took the cat back with instructions that they would come back for it if the real owner didn't show. Their own cat showed up 2 weeks later.
I had a black cat some time ago. His name was Hoop and he was the best buddy I ever had. He even managed to beat down a dog which was twice as huge!
I had a black cat for 20 solid years!! She was the best. When I was 5 all I wanted was a black cat with white spots. We found her from a newspaper add for free kittens. She was the only black cat in the liter and after getting her shots, her fur turned white. So i got the black cat with white spots. I named her Pretty and sometimes kitty ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ She was the greatest cat and mom. We lived in the country and she was always getting pregnant lol her kittens were always a surprise as to what color they would be lol what a little player but she brought us a lot of "gifts" that we had to save. But gosh I sure do miss her. Never had any superstitious thoughts about her, just loved her and her black furs. Miss you pretty kitty.
That's lovely but next time please, please neuter. There are enough unwanted cats and to bring more into the world really doesn't help the problem. It is also better for the individual cat.
Load More Replies...I absolutely love the Black Cat Comics and so does my black kitty Amber. Who is much like Black Cat's Mom. She's not missing an eye, but she's blind in the same eye that Black Cat's Mom is.
We adopted 2 black cats 5 years ago. Sadie is now my bestest friend and wakes me up with a soft meow every morning, she's the sweetest cat ive ever owned.
Right now we have an all-black cat, a tuxedo cat + a black cat with 3 small white spots. (and yes, they each picked us at the Humane Society shelter!)
Let me tell you, I read this while listening to Elain Paige's singing of 'Memory' on that last part of the musical. The feels hit me too hard. Way too hard. I just can't-
I rescued a black cat from a shelter and she is the best, sweetest, gentlest cat I've ever had.
Every time I read this I cry. I adopted a cat that was abused and hid while she was in the shelter, so people passed her by. She was there almost two years, but now I have her. She's the sweetest cat I've ever had. People, please don't pass by the shy ones. They're the ones who need you most. One day, they'll be sleeping with you too.
I had a black cat who I adopted when I was three. He was the sweetest kitty I've ever had. He even stayed with us even when we moved from Colorado to Pennsylvania to Tennessee. He died recently at the ripe old age of 12, I loved my sweet Diago so much.
I've always on an off had black kitties. And even thou my husband and I were full at 6 kitties this summer (all adopted and rescued) when we stopped at our vet for some of their checkups, he told us someone dumped four kittens at the back of the office and he took them in. I was behaving not to go look but (this is the short story) husband said why not. I got to hold a little black runt and he played with a few others. We left. I told him there was a dog that was dropped off when we had been waiting an was in the cage above the kitties. But doggo was not going home. Doggo was old and parents said goodbyes. (I still cry watching them do that and know it was the best they did for doggo). Husband went back next day an told them we taking black runt. His name is Mercury aka Murky for short. And out of 7 he's the one that I'm his person. Adopt don't shop.
I have to be honest, I'm a bit upset that the cat in the last panel looks a bit like Donald Trump.
I have four cats, all rescues, all different colors - my first was a black cat - Kitty 🖤 my shadow, protector, sweetest friend. The way he looks at me makes me feel he's seeing right through my soul. I have the most special connection to him. I dread the thought of the day he won't be with me anymore. I will always have a black cat.
God damn with this ninja cutting onions.............not crying just a thing in my eye
NO! So cute and so sad at the same time!! That poor kitty! TT
I. Am. Crying. I have two wonderful black cats but the fact that kill shelters exist is terrible and makes me so sad and angry.
Great, tears in my eyes! at work, fortunately we have a small closed office so only a few who know me can see me cry
Will also mention my parents and I were lucky enough to have a big black tomcat living outside our house for many years; we had five cats inside the house (including one of his siblings; his mother raised multiple litters outside our front door). We named him Doc; he was a fine hunter, and used to bring my parents 'presents' (Dead prey... "Paying the rent," I called it when I was little). He loved my parents and I very much, and we were grateful to have him.
This is beautiful; the first is difficult to read, the second wonderful. The whole story IS a tearjerker. So grateful to see that cat adopted and saved. I've had a number of black cats over the years, and they're just as lovable and wonderful as any other cat we've had. Have two black cat brats now, and my wife and are grateful to have them. One is a talker (tiny, with a little white 'dot' on the end of her tail) and her brother is a huge monster who loves 'lounging about' and cuddling with us. I'm sure when, someday, we DO lose them, we'll be adopting again, and one of them will be (I am sure) a black cat.
Im still crying and this is my 3rd time reading it 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I just read it again and still get teary eyed! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

My neighbor had a black cat that would visit me, I called him buddy. I knew him for 7 years, he was a best friend. Black cats are so underrated!
Don't judge a dog/cat by their color. My dog is sweet as can be, but he has black fur. We don't know much about his past, but he was tied up outside. He's terrible to walk (leash agressive) but we love him very much.
I had a tuxedo cat for fourteen years. His name was Damon and I loved him SO much. Saying goodbye to that cat was as hard as it ever gets. He was my baby. I now have a tuxedo I named Andy and an all-black kitty named Benny. The family is filled out by Lexi; she stands out because she's a calico.
Please tell me that people don't actually use black cats for rituals... Cuz that's just cruel!
The commen word “witches” is from over 5000 years ago when people from Africa came to different countries and knew different ways to grow crops and fish and there is also movies and books but there are no ties between black cats and bad luck they are associated with the word “ cruel” and “ horable” at it just isn’t fair Also many people pay hundreds of dollars to get beautiful pets that are fluffy or exzotic. If you want a cat or dog please go to a shelter and get one that isn’t beautiful but has a beautiful heart and I’m not saying that pretty cats and dogs are horable but they are more likely to be adopted than say a black old cat with a eye missing
Oh I don't like you one bit. Every damn frame. I've had many cats in my life and yeah... Can totally relate to this comic
I have a black kitten that I love with all my heart. I will never let him go. No one will ever hurt him.
I have a black cat he is the best he lost his mom when he was 2 weeks old because of a bad person they killed her by hitting her with a car but she survived but then he took her away and hit her with a bat until she died
Gah! This makes me cry! 😭And angry 😡😢 i hace 2 black cats, a girl and a boy, both found abandoned at different times. The boy was nearly thrown into an ocean to drown when my brother saved him, and the girl was abandoned with her siblings who later passed. They are the. Sweetest cats we've ever had!
I heard that black cats are less popular for adoption because they don't show up as well in selfies, not sure if that's true or not but if it is it's pathetic
We used to have a black Tom-cat called Ozzie, we had had him for 14 years and were moving soon, one day he went outside and never came back😥
When that cat was shaking and said “but I’m a good kitty...” that really hit hard😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I have had two black cats and they were each, in their own way, just wonderful.
The Weeping Faeries got me again, dammit. Looks like I gotta leave them some more shinies. My mate knows I mourn every little fur-kin I see lying by the road when we drive somewhere and it grieves me to know there are monsters out there who have either deliberately hit them, or threw them out there to die. I keep catching myself endlessly hunting the sides of the roads, looking for someone to maybe, just maybe save, if I can... I do know, that when my little Diva goes (she's 18 and suspiciously healthy, although she's now gone deaf, poor girl), while she can never be replaced, I don't feel quite... right without a fuzzbutt living with me, so there's a black kitty who'll have me in their future. Lame, half-blind, scruffy, I won't care, if they want me, they'll have me. <3
What is the reference to "good boy?" I didn't see that in either of these strips, wonderful as they both are. Is that another strip by the same artist?
I have had over 22 cats in my life time since I babysit many from shelters til they can get a new home. I actually find that the black cats are the most funny cats of them all
What I find interesting is that in the old Celtic countries (practically the entire UK) and Japan specifically , black cats always used to be considered good luck as they would drive away bad luck and mischievous faeries/yokai. It is only really the rest of Europe, and somehow America, that black cats are considered bad luck. Even if it is for no other reason, this is why I want a black cat. Additionally, horse shoes are considered lucky because they are made of iron and iron is poisonous to faeries, so no goblins or the like will mess with you and your stuff. Due to the evolution of this belief of horse shoes and luck, Blacksmiths would put an upside down horse shoe above their forge so the good luck would drain into their work. Also 13 is mathematically lucky, somehow, and some Asian cultures find the number 4 to be unlucky, whilst 13 is perfectly fine. 13 is actually kind of a holy number with a bad rep. So in this age of global contact and sharing , why are we collectively being superstitious and killings things that we personally think are bad or bring about a, frankly, small inconvenience.
This is sad and adorable at the same time.
