Magical Night Photos Of Tokyo’s Streets By Masashi Wakui Look Straight Out Of Miyazaki Films (New Photos)
Masashi Wakui (previously here) is a self-taught Japanese photographer who hides in the dark corners of Tokyo to document the city like a scene from an intimate fairytale.
Focusing on the Japanese metropolis during the night, Wakui brings out its mesmerizing vibrant colors. He perfectly captures the poetry of Tokyo's lively narrow streets, filled with buzzing neon signs and mysterious figures.
Using high-performance compact cameras, Wakui usually explores the backstreets and alleyways of Shibuya and Shinjyuku, but visits other districts as well. His aesthetic images might look like images from the set of Ridley Scott's Blade Runner, but the subject in the images aren't actors or models - they're just ordinary citizens who happened to cross the path of Wakui's lens.

Yokohama Chinatown, but I cannot find the exact spot. Google Maps was there in daylight!
A 'Capsule Hotel' ("kapuseru hoteru" as the sign obviously says!). Not enough clues to find it on Google Maps.
They all look cartooney ♥ (which is a compliment when it comes from me). And most of them remind me of Tekkonkinkreet somehow.
Tekkonkinkreet! OMG that was an amazing movie!! Thanks for reminding me.
Load More Replies...Wow so beautiful! Took my breath away. Really reminds me of Spirited Away.
This helps me appreciate more the art of anime like Ghibli's. Fantastic photos.
Tokio is not only breathtaking, it is also very safe.
Load More Replies...These pictures are so beautiful.Sir,I wanted to know whether these pictures are edited or not? If not, then how did you manage to get such vibrant photos. Long Shutter Speed? ( i know there is no motion blur but still) PS I am an amateur photographer :) :D
they look more like artworks than photos, I had to check the title twice
