From people and plants to cars and buildings, time eventually wears everything out. Sometimes it takes weeks or months, other times it can take years or decades, but eventually everything begins to crumble beneath the unstoppable pressure of Father Time.
Check out this fascinating list to see what we mean. Compiled by Bored Panda, the pictures below contain everything from marble floors worn down by feet to kitchen knives that have almost lost their blades due to years of constant use. Don't forget to vote for your favorite, and feel free to add to the list!

Footprints Are Carved Into The Floorboards By Monk Who Has Prayed At The Same Spot For 20 Years
Wood doesn't work that way. It would only be worn down if the monk hat moved a lot over that place, but he didn't . Just standing on wood wouldn't make dents - it might lower a section, but not carve out footprints. Especially not the toes! there's no weight on a toe, how would it indent so far down that you would spot the individual ones? Sorry- I call "fake" for this.
The monk did move a lot over the same place. Over 20 years, he kowtowed a few thousand times daily. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/picturegalleries/worldnews/4840238/Footprints-are-carved-into-the-floorboards-by-monk-who-has-prayed-at-the-same-spot-for-20-years.html?image=7

Load More Replies...The tools are going the wrong direction. If that was one from his feet that would be a depression where the toes are not something raised off the floor
The first image is a depression from his feet. The second image is the view from the opposite side of the floorboard.

At least he has something to show for praying. Normally u get nothing. This still does seem fishy but cool idea.
What do you mean you get nothing? Ever hear of faith? That tends to be the usual reason people pray is because of their faith in someone or something. Praying isn't like a magical lamp where a genie pops out and gives you 3 wishes like you seem to think it is.
Load More Replies...There are softer and harder types of wood. This is probably a soft type. I've seen stone worn down in foot print patterns, so this is not impossible.
Though I agree the image is suspect, I have seen this story in multiple places. The toes can create indents from downward dog and forward jump. Where it seems strange is in the low probability that his toes were always in the exact same spot. Maybe he marked the flor to make sure he stood in that place everyday?
My guess is that as the floor wore down, the toes started to gravitate toward that well-worn spot.
Load More Replies...I have seen ruts carved / worn into wooden floors from foot traffic over decades. I've repaired metal stairs and walkways that were worn down over a 25 year period by daily usage on navy ships and have seen steel tread plates worn down in a similar fashion. The act of simply standing would not have created the above result but the act of flexing and gripping or scrunching ones toes would and Tibetan monks are known for some very incredible feats of strength and physical discipline that no one else in the world can do.
I don't know,..but it might just be the way these images were shot... ..You may be seeing an Optical Illusion called 'The Hollow Mask Effect'?... in which concave elements or depressions appear to be protruding..?? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaofyuCXZ_0
Amazing how a hard substance like wood can be worn down by the soft foot of a human. I love this!
He is barefooted. He is n the same position for hours a day . Moisture from his feet softens the wood making it malleable and wearable.
Yes it is very impressionable LOOKING, BUT indentations would go into the wood, think about it, how is standing on something going to make it grow, instead it will eat into the wood.
This image would be believable if he'd been standing on the underside of those boards. This is fake.
I'm Buddhist, and kowtow every day. I used to prostrate 1,000x/day. To me, that looks exactly like how your toes grip the floor.
If a monk's feet did this, then we must be looking at the reverse side of the floor board. There would be hollows where the heels and balls of the feet have been, not raised areas!
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1155980/Is-miracle-Monk-prays-left-footprints-ingrained-FLOOR.html
Hmmm I dunno about this one, If it's real, then that must be some soft wood.
It's really strange ... seems a fake pic ... If the monk has stamped her feet because the footprint is convex rather than concave?
They are concave, the monk didn't stamp his feet, he kowtowed several thousand times a day for years.
