I Photograph Children With Special Needs In Awesome Places | This Is Me…

THIS IS ME… is a collection of real life stories of children who have special needs in one way or another. There are SO many amazing children out there that may have it a little harder in life. If I could give them just a few hours of fun and excitement using my love for photography, it would mean the world to me. I want to tell their stories. I want to learn about them, and I want others to learn about them too- What they love, what their passion is, what makes them happy. Maybe it will even help some people put life in perspective just a little more. So we talked, made friends, and created a special day to create a photo shoot that depicts just who they are and what they love to do.

THIS IS ME….SARAH

Sara. is. awesome. She is a 7 year old little girl with an extra chromosome- her family calls it her “fun” chromosome, which I think is amazing. Sarah is an extremely happy and determined child. She doesn’t speak much yet, but that doesn’t stop her from letting you know what she likes and what she doesn’t. Sarah loves reading, coloring, cooking, watching tv, and playing on the iPad. She loves Disney princesses and LEGO Friends. She loves eating sweets and avoiding bedtime. Everyone she meets tells us she is awesome, and we definitely agree.

I got to meet Sarah a couple of times. Her mom told me that she really loved cooking and baking. She loves to play in her kitchen, so I thought what better to do then to let her play in a REAL bakery.

I contacted Kupcake & Co. in Elkridge, Maryland because I knew their location was super cute. They immediately agreed with open arms. They were SO accommodating and basically let Sarah have free reign over their bakery. Every detail of their shop is so “sweet”. And their cupcakes are AMAZING!

Sarah was able to play in all sorts of bakery ingredients and equipment- and as you can see in the pictures, she was having a blast. Her smile is contagious. After the shoot, Kupcakes & Co. gave her a free dozen specialty cupcakes to take home.

These pictures tell it all…Sarah is as happy as can be. She loves life…
