This Amsterdam Hospital Staff Folded 1.000 Paper Cranes To Help Patients Sleep
Research shows that hospital patients lie awake a lot from strange noises, bright lights and uncomfortable mattresses. While sleeping is very important for recovery. Holland’s largest hospital, Amsterdam UMC, decided to tackle the problem. They renewed mattresses, ordered earplugs, sleeping masks and approached Dutch bedding label SNURK to redesign the hospital bedding. Together they created a unique duvet with a message.

According to an ancient Japanese tradition the folding of 1,000 origami cranes brings good luck and health. This idea was the inspiration for the hospital’s new bedding.
A 1.000 cranes were folded by hospital staff.
A selection from the pile of birds was printed on the bedding.
The hospital bedding now provides warmth to patients in more than one way.
