When it comes to valuable life lessons or just simple life hacks, we often turn to our mothers. Although sometimes they can really get on our nerves, we can’t deny that they teach you pretty much everything you need to know: from good manners and common sense to the most simple things like shaving or washing your hair.

Unfortunately, not everyone has had the best relationship with their mom or maybe didn’t even have one to turn to at all. But there’s a TikTok user that creates videos about "stuff your mom should have told you" and more than 112K followers really appreciate it.

Bored Panda collected some of the most relatable self-care and self-love tips from this account, so upvote your favorites and share your thoughts in the comments below!

TikTok user Natalia creates a video series about "stuff your mom should have told you", and more than 112K followers find it very thoughtful and relatable

Leave Clean Bathroom After Yourself

Leave Clean Bathroom After Yourself

If there's more than one person living in the house, remember to flush the toilet, change the toilet paper if you used it up. Clean the shower drain after you use the shower, pick up your wet towel and hang it to dry. Wipe the sink after yourself.

growwithlove Report

The content that Natalie shares on TikTok seems to be really relevant to her followers. Her videos are full of advice that mothers usually pass on to their children. Whether it’s tips about a skincare routine, personal hygiene or just regular life things, she's got you covered.

Natalia herself lost her mother to cancer when she was 13 and misses her every day. Some people comment that they also lost their mothers when they were little and hearing what Natalia has to say really helps them to heal.

To find out more about grief and how sharing your experience with others can help you cope with the pain, we reached out to a licensed mental health counselor William Berry. He is a practicing psychotherapist who also teaches at Florida International University. According to him, there are a number of reasons why discussing grief is difficult.

Staying Clean

Staying Clean

You need to change your socks every single day, your underwear, every single day, your bra two to three days at most, your sheets, once a week, your towels two to three days, your toothbrush every two months, your pads, every three to four hours, your tampons, three to four hours, and make sure to use the reminder.

“For one, there is a pressure in society to put on a strong facade, and along with that, there is a fear of being a burden to others,” he explains. “Often, others do not know how to handle someone’s expression of grief, and it feels awkward, often for everyone. As such, there is a tendency to avoid the possible awkwardness.”

Due to this reason, many feel the pressure to “fix” these feelings of sorrow, rather than just being there with the person experiencing it: “This can lead to overly positive statements that are inappropriately timed. The person grieving may fear this, and thereby never share their grief.”

If you make a commitment of love to someone, and you break it, there are no excuses. You don't accidentally flirt with someone else, you don't accidentally end up in bed with someone else. What excuse could there possibly be?

However, sharing your experience and feelings with others has its benefits, and there’s a good amount of psychological evidence to support this. “In an evolutionary sense, it bonds us,” he says. “Just the other day, a student shared something she read, the gist of which was it is our pain that bonds us. I believe shared pain can be a powerful connection between individuals and groups.”

Tear open the foil of the condom on one side. Be careful with sharp nails and/or objects. Remove the condom from the foil and check the top of the condom carefully. Place the condom on the erect penis, squeeze the tip (also called the reservoir) closed with 2 fingers to prevent air from entering the condom. Unroll the condom carefully, avoiding the condom coming into contact with your nails, this can damage the condom and cause it to tear during sex. For the safety of the condom, you can use extra lubricant on the condom. Always use water-based or silicone-based lubricants. All lubricants can be used in combination with condoms. Never use oil or Vaseline, this will damage the condom. After the act, remove the condom from the penis and tie a knot. Always use a condom only once. Throw away a used condom in the waste bin, never flush it in the toilet as this can cause blockages.

William Berry thinks that any form of sharing grief can really help. However, doing it on the Internet can come with a risk of potential rudeness: “People sometimes target others.” And although this can also happen in real life, he says that we tend to be a little kinder in person. “But any way of expressing yourself, especially in a creative manner such as this [video series], is helpful.”

Using Public Bathroom

Using Public Bathroom

When you use a public bathroom, remember that everything is dirty. So touch stuff only with your pinky or a piece of paper especially when you turn on the sink.

When you want to sit down, line the toilet seat with toilet paper.

Wash your hands and turn off the water with your elbow.

When you leave, remember that the door handle was touched by all the people who didn't wash their hands.

Do not line the seat with toilet paper. Toilet seats are actually designed to stay clean. Their shape and the material they are made out of were chosen purposely for its ability to kill germs. Bacteria doesn't survive on a toilet seat. Seat liners and toilet paper, however, are another story. The soft, spongy material they’re made out of is a breeding ground for germs and bacteria. By sitting on them instead of the seat, you’re actually sitting on more bacteria than were on the seat itself!

Organizing Your Underwear

Organizing Your Underwear

Get a little box and put all your underwear in it. You need to change your underwear every single day. And for that, you need anywhere between 10 to 14 pairs of underwear.

And no matter what people say about granny panties being comfortable, hear me out - maternity underwear is better.

If you are experiencing grief yourself, just remember that it is a process and everyone experiences it in their own way. Berry advises to focus on accepting the experience rather than judging oneself for it: “All types of emotional responses to grief are normal: sadness, anger, despair, self-reproach, even relief in some cases. Try to have the experience and go through the process without negative judgment in yourself.”

You are better to have either aspirin or ibuprofen and paracetamol. Aspirin and ibuprofen are both anti-inflammatory, but not the same, meaning you can't mix them and it isn't good to have them within 8 hours of each other. Whereas paracetamol can be taken with aspirin or ibuprofen as it is a different type of pain killer, or within a shorter window of taking the others.

Staying Safe

Staying Safe

If you're at home by yourself at night and you hear a baby cry outside, no matter what, do not go outside to explore, this is a common tactic by burglars to get you to come outside and attack you and they're going to get access to your home.

Everybody wants to help a baby. But in this case, the best thing is to call the police. Be safe.

How is that a common tactic? Never heard of that before. Probably an urban legend. Burglars don't usually want the homeowners around nor want to maim them. It puts them at risk of getting hurt, killed and caught.

Taking The Shower

Taking The Shower

When you take a shower, do a quick cleanse to wet your hair and your skin. Apply shampoo, and then wash it off. Apply conditioner, get a loofa, apply some body wash and scrub your entire body. Yes, even your feet. Rinse off the conditioner and the body wash. Get the loofa, apply some body wash and go over your body one more time. Then rinse that off again. Before you get out of the shower, do a quick body squeegee, so you don't make a a puddle on the floor. Get a towel, pat yourself dry, wipe your feet. Then go to the sink and wash your face.

Washing Your Avocados

Once a month in the shower, you need to take care of your chest. You start all the way at the top and do little circular motions. Keep going down, cleaning every little part. Once you go all around, you need to check the middle too. If you feel any lumps, make sure to talk to your doctor.

These are the three most important moves. When you brush your teeth.

From gum go down and do the circular motion. Do it on the base of your teeth aswell. You need to do this on all the surfaces of your teeth, top and bottom and all the way in the back and the back of the teeth.

You also need to brush the inside of your cheeks and your tongue.

Grab a long piece of floss, roll it on your index fingers. Each time you move to new tooth, you just roll it a little bit and use a clean piece of floss.

You don't need lots of foam. Actually shampoos and soaps that produce a lot of foam tend to be too harsh. It's fun to play with, but you don't need it to get clean.

Oh hell no! Drying nail lacquer with a hair drier only does the top layer and not the bottom, thus making easy to mess up. A thin brush works better than an "ear stick", and you can use acetone-free nail lacquer remover.

Shaving Any Area Of Your Body

If you want to shave any area of your body you need to apply body scrub on it first. Wash that off and apply some foam or gel. Lather everything up. When you use your razor, don't apply any pressure. Hold it gently from the tip and go in the direction of the hair growth. If the hair is long, go in smaller sections and remember to rinse often. Even if it doesn't look perfect, that's ok. Apply foam one more time and this time you go against the growth of the hair. Apply some moisturizer and you're done.
