“People With Enormously Obese Pets”: 35 Things People Can’t Help But Judge Others For
We often form opinions about others based on the words they say, the actions they take, even the clothes that they wear, and since it's impossible to see the world through their eyes, we have to be extra careful with our perceptions.
At least, that's the theory, which in practice can be really hard. So when Reddit user DolphinsR4evr made a post on the platform, asking everyone "What is something you have a hard time not judging people about?", many had something to share.
From littering to neglecting pets, here are the submissions that received the most attention.

Poor treatment of pets.

I see that often (I volunteer at our local shelter) and it really makes me angry seeing the people come in and just surrender the dog because they couldn't be bothered to put in the time and dedication. Dogs aren't a damn appliance. They are a living breathing being with feelings. There honestly should be a database that those people get added to that prevents them from ever having a dog in the future if that's the reason why they are surrendering a dog (or any other animal). And I get that there are legimate reasons for surrendering an animal (owner dies and surviving family cannot properly care for it, loss of housing and job, etc).
Leaving trash in nature or anywhere really. I don't get it.
I always pick up garbage while I'm out. I was raised to leave the area looking better then when I arrived. I've taught my son this as well.
People who decline vaccinations for their children.
They just "know better" with zero real education on anything remotely related to science behind vaccinations.
And 99.9% of the time, they are vaccinated themselves... Poor kids that do not get the same chances because of their stupid parents. And worst, the collateral damage suffered by the ones thar can't be vaccinated, the loss in herd immunity can't be compensated with anything ☹️
People with enormously obese pets that can barely walk. It’s not cute, they are not a “chonker,” you just kind of suck.
When they shove their religion in other peoples’ faces
When POLITICIANS shove their religion onto the populace. Religion and politics should never be mixed.
People who “declaw” their cats
I got a cat from a shelter and they didn't tell me he was declawed. Thankfully I already intended to keep him indoors. My Fry was the sweetest boy and I miss his soft beans.
I hate people who feel the need to constantly bring others down and make them feel bad about things they enjoy. It's so sad to watch someone's enthusiasm about their hobby deflate because another person decided to be a d**k about it.
I love when folks get excited about the things they like. Like hell yes let's be enthusiastic about this thing together! And if I don't know about it, I sit and listen and learn in that moment and it's great. People just throw experience and knowledge at you, and it's awesome.
People who don't use their turn signals.
So annoying. It's there to let other people know what you are planning on doing, reducing accidents. And it's very bad this time of year too.
Anyone who participates in that awful tradition of slamming someone’s face into their birthday cake.
People who use their phones on full volume in public. It’s one thing for kids, but I keep seeing adults doing it. I just cannot imagine being that self centered. I’m seeing it way too often.
When parents let their kids play some annoying game at full volume, I want to bash my head against a wall until I go night night. Talk to you kid, engage with them to keep them busy. If you are going to use the electronic babysitter, get them headphones!
People with no sense of self awareness, so they stop in the middle of walkways/entrances/crosswalks for no reason.
I can't stand all the people milling around in stores like Costco, blocking the aisles, and why - for the LOVE OF GOD can people not stay right. Keep right. Just like driving, baby. Sheesh!
When their kids are acting up and they’re ignoring it and/or doing nothing to try to stop it
I work in a restaurant and just today I had to dodge 4 kids doing somersaults on the floor while carrying very heavy trays of food. This isn't a one time thing. Not only is it disrespectful, it's dangerous. I have like 200lbs above your kid, without carrying heavy trays. If I trip and fall on your kid, they could get hurt. I really don't want that on my conscience
Bragging about not reading books. Please stay away from me.
Bragging about *reading* books, too. I don't mean people who read something they enjoyed and want to share it with the world. I mean people who make reading their whole personality, talk only about how they're better than others because they read a lot and shame people who don't have time or prefer other hobbies. Or say that it's not a *real* book because it's fanfiction or from the mainstream. Unfortunately I've tons of book-snobs around me - for a few years they legit caused me to dislike reading. Fortunately, it passed.
I love reading 😁 but I would never ever shame someone over it it doesn't do anything just turns theme off reading 😕
Sometimes when you're really stupid you don't know you're stupid, so sometimes you tell people about your stupidity.
I don't think I've ever encountered this. What a weird thing to brag about
if people are bragging about NOT reading books, then they're simply bragging about being an absolute idiot.
equally bragging about reading specific kinds of books or putting people down for reading certain kinds of books. i adore childrens books. i spent years reading books from almost every genre (i only say this because someone online called me a childish idiot who obviously could only read kids books because i was stupid and incapable of understanding more mature books). but now i mainly read childrens books. the stories are incredible and i tend to find the stories more exciting and less pretictable than a lot of the other genre. but i also hate people who are like 'if you aren't reading all the classics then you aren't a real reader'
I tried reading a bunch of "classics" and only about half held any value. I won't try reading them all for bragging rights: I want my brain to be useful, not stuffed. The Bible is very worthwhile.
Load More Replies...Nothing better than getting lost in a good book. In fact I'm typing this whilst I'm on my way to the library!
If you brag about not reading you truly are ignorant. That is nothing to be proud of.
An ex once exclaimed to me that he "actually read a book!" The implication with it was that he had absorbed that information and was magically a better person after having read a fcking book for once. He gained no insight and was still a lying, and manipulative, boundary-pusher. Stalked me for a spell too.
My kids want a reward for reading. I tell them that acquiring knowledge is its own reward
My sister got her daughter to read by reading a story aloud to her. Then when the plot got to be really exciting she had to go starting dinner or something. Very soon her daughter finished reading the story and starting on a new book.

Yes they are often rather boring, because they don't get to know much.
Or bragging about anything negative: " I spent 5 years in prison and don't go to church!" Loser.
There's a college aged person at work who just yesterday was loudly declaring shed never read a book and a mid 30s person equally loudly declaring she loves reading and there must be something wrong with the non reader. I just chuckled. Neither one of you is going to convince the other that way!
Or not having been in a library for years. Like, dude, why are you bragging to the librarian? I guarantee I won't be impressed.
I am ashamed and embarrassed for anyone who would "brag" about being close to illiterate.
People who brag about not reading books instantly self-identify themselves as not being worth your time. Otherwise it might have taken longer to notice that. So thanks, bibliophobe.
Yet Jamie Oliver has ADHD and dyslexia. He struggled to learn to read as a child and finds reading hard work as an adult. He said "I'm dyslexic and until recently I'd never got through a book". He recorded his first books on a Dictaphone instead of writing them down because of his struggles with dyslexia. It is estimated that one in ten people have a form of dyslexia and many aren't going to find reading a book easy. Doesn't mean they don't enjoy a story or learning, audiobooks have been a real boon for a great many people.
Load More Replies...i am going to assume you mean fiction, b/c that is what most people mean when they talk about reading for pleasure...i don't read fiction....i have a B.S., M.S., Ph.D., and J.D....I read papers and watch the new...i think i am pretty and intelligent about the world...tldr: there are many kinds of observations and observors...don't assume that someone who doesn't read fiction is not intelligent or observant...
People don't brag about NOT reading books, they brag about reading them as if they are something special.
Not cleaning up after their dog. Just get a doggy bag ppl
I can't believe all the morons that bag it up and then walk away from the bag. smh
People pressuring other people to do something after the other people have already said no
People with loud cars or people that drive like they own the road
If you want to play stupid racing cars. .. go to a track … buy a computer game…. Play with a scalextric.
I find it hard to muster up sympathy for people who die doing exciting but dangerous activities. Free climbing? Scaling a building to dangle your feet for Instagram? Free diving? Cave diving? Motorcycle tricks on the highway?
I’m sorry to the family for the loss, but like… they died voluntarily doing something completely unnecessary and super risky.
Often they need to be rescued which puts these emergency services in danger and costs a lot of money.
People smoking around their kids.
As a smoker, I know it's disgusting. I never smoke indoors and always try to avoid people. If I'm smoking in public, I find a spot far out of the way if people approach I hold my cigarette over my head and try to move further away. I'm especially always watching for kids, they don't need the smoke, neither do any other people. I never, ever smoked around children and indoor smoking is even more disgusting and I don't do that either. I know my habit is gross, it's my choice (hubby and I are trying to quit, it's not easy but it's a goal) but no one else should have to put up with my smoking. I also don't leave the butts lying around, they are field stripped and properly disposed of.
being proud of being awful and absolute a**holes to their children
When someone outgoing “adopts” a shy person. “I'm gonna make you more talkative!!” Stfu, and mind your own business, you weirdo.
people who do the whole 'competitive misery' thing. or similarly, people like the woman I work with constantly feel the need to act like my pain (and anyone else who mentions being in pain) couldn't possibly be as bad as hers and it's just very s***ty
Just because you have suffered more (this might be 100% true) than someone, it does not invalidate how they’re suffering too.
Being extremely loud in public place or restaurants and bragging
People who DECIDE to have kids when they aren't in a position to raise them
OR,
having kids with someone you knew damn well wasn't fitted to be a parent but that's convenient because you want kids and then complain how bad parents they are.
Drivers who don't stop at crosswalks for pedestrians.
Whether they wash their hands after a bathroom break. Game changer
When people knock or doors and try to preach or give you a word about their religion. Especially if you’re clearly trying to leave
A parent leaving and ignoring one family to get a new SO and raise that person's children.
My parents split up when I was young, I ended up with my mum and my dad went and made a new family, fair play to him as mum was a psycho junkie b*tch queen, now I am grown up and understand I have a lot of respect for my dad for getting out of a toxic relationship even though I miss him and haven't seen him in decades, hope he's happy
People who’ve been in a difficult situation, got themselves out of it (usually with some sort of luck or help) then look down on people currently in that same situation because they themselves were able to get themselves out therefore so should others.
Constant aggression at the slightest thing. Could be a mental health issue, but lashing out isn't the answer. I just wish the mental health system wasn't completely useless now.
So true. Like " Oh, don´t get mad at him. He has (whatever mental thing) going on." - " Oh, right, right. So I just gonna stand here let him hit me with the broom, understood."
People who complain about a situation and do nothing about it.
Overly "performative" people. Not just bragging, but... I know a guy for whom the act of reading is something you have to do in Starbucks in the hope someone will comment on the book he's reading, not actually about the act of reading.
That's just weird, but hey....you do you, I'll do me and that's just fine. I'm sure I do things other people find weird. It makes us all unique and honestly, I like that.
Torturers. I don't know anybody who likes torturers. Paedophiles, either.
for the second one, not always. they CAN try to get help . however, if they are a child r@pist, then they are evil
Load More Replies...People who can't put half an effort to capitalize when typing, especially their names. How lazy can you be to not be able to move a finger for half a moment. And don't get me started on punctuations!
Oh, totally. I Do. Not. Understand. Them. I especially find them so weird in this world where we are getting so much more woke and resist acting to traditional gender roles and stereotypes, yet there is this weird subset of people insisting on having a whole party based on “Guns or Glitter?Touch Downs or Tutus?”. It’s so icky to me!
Load More Replies...I have my own petty one: People who knock on the door even though there clearly is a doorbell. I can't hear your subltle knocking with TV on, not to mention when I'm somewhere deeper in the house, vacuuming or wearing headphones. What are you thinking??
I honestly think sometimes they don’t want you to answer. They are assigned to knock on so many doors and may have gps trackers monitored by their boss, but sometimes they just want to go home.
Load More Replies...Why does the question say "what is something you have A HARD TIME no judging"? I don't have a hard time at all 🤣. I full on judge with no remorse, as l'm sure someone will judge me. I'll rarely say something because it's probably not harmful, but l'm not gonna police my own beliefs.
Hmm? 🤔 But that's exactly what it means? "I could shut up and not judge but I have a hard time doing so." - Anyway they changed it to " can't help but judge", lol

The litter one is starting to bug me, You are part of the human race, just you existing causes there to be litter about the planet. The building you live and work in that's litter on nature, the road you drive on is garbage, the exhaust your car spews forth is garbage, you breathe out CO2 directly poisoning our atmosphere. To be a humans is to participate in a culture of taking over nature, get the f**k over yourself. I try not to litter, but what we have already done to the planet is not going to be made ANY F*****G WORSE because you threw plastic on top of concrete. Concrete is the litter.
