Decay. Dereliction. Dilapidation. These words can seem depressing and hopeless. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. That’s why we decided to take a closer look at some scenes of urban decay to find the beauty within.

If you take a different look at these scenes, they present some colour palettes that are both stunning and inspiring. They certainly wouldn’t look out of place on a designer’s mood board. Most scenes of dilapidation and decay feature light and shade. Gentle, soft pastels are common. Some even boast some bright, vibrant hues. When nature takes over the sights of mould and watermarks might be unpleasant, but their colours can be quite the opposite. Let the colours of decay inspire you to create something new, giving a new lease of life to something long forgotten.
