6 Years Ago We Spent Our Last Penny To Create One Bag, And Here’s Where It Got Us
So, it all began in January 2011 when we (Max and Lyuba) sat down at the cafe table and finally decided to work on some project together. Which project? We didn’t know yet but it had to be something original. Not quite an original idea, isn’t it?
Lyuba had an eye for beauty and learned a lot about today’s trends in handmade and I knew how to make patterns and sew. And then she said “bags”. Why bags? Because everyone needs one! But why should a bag look like a bag? Why can’t it look like anything? This question lit a bulb in our heads and we got flooded with ideas.
Next day we ran to a store and spent our last money on a piece of grey wool felt and a used sewing machine. The first model we created was the Dirigible bag. We didn’t yet had a feel for a size when making patterns so it came out huge! The bag looked really stunning and scary. Honestly, we were impressed ourselves.
We created a second model right away just to confirm the impression. It was the Milk Can Bag - a bag that we’ve never seen before. We liked them both but it didn’t mean anything. We still had to get a response from people. Maybe we just gone nuts?
We uploaded images on the internet and.... received tens of order right away! We couldn't expect that. It stopped us from designing other models for at least two months. But the good thing was that it actually changed the way people thought about bags. We received many custom orders (most of them we had on our list already). And that’s how we moved on for years - the demand was always ahead of production. Each new model was a phenomenon, a discovery. Even now, after almost seven years these bags look fresh to us. And our list is far from the end even though we have more than a hundred models in the Bags-Objects collection (not including over a hundred models of Book-bags). If you don't find your favorite object turned into a bag - don't worry! We'll work on it!

And I was expecting them to cost twice as much! These are unique pieces- limited editions, not factory made sweat shop get them at Walmart crappy bags. Yes, out of price range for many to buy as an everyday purchase but these aren't supposed to be everyday bags. IMHO priced just right- and really cool pieces!
