Living in California makes it relatively easy to visit Yosemite National Park. I’ve been there many times mostly to enjoy nature, hike, and engage in photography. Of the many photos I’ve captured this particular photo is probably still my favorite.
Here’s the story behind the photo. I was walking around Glacier Point (for anyone that has not visited the National Park, Glacier Point is an awesome overlook point) taking photos, and a group of about eight people were crouched down next to a low wall, which caught my interest. I took a closer look at what the group was doing, and I noticed that they were taking a picture of this squirrel eating a nut. I immediately crouched down to join the group and captured this photo.
In the background, many people will recognize what is probably the most iconic image of Yosemite National Park, the mighty Half Dome. I love that this plump, cute squirrel is taking center stage as the focus of this photo, and mighty Half Dome is taking on the role of second fiddle. Whenever I come across this photo, it never fails to make me smile… I hope it brings you one.
