My story ;
Vision of seeing and finding yourself in a world that slowly disappears from our reality.
People tattooed on the face who once hunted and cut off their heads, and now they are Christians over 100 years old, I decided to go to this side with the best guide, my “naga” girl.
They have a strong tradition of warriors. Taking over the opponents’ heads as trophies, to hang them in “Morong” (municipal house). People from Konyak are the only ones from the longest, because until the late 1960’s-70’s they practiced head hunting. Also the only tribe that opposed Christianity and modernization longer than most other tribes in Nagas, because wars and head hunting were an essential part of their ritual life.
But the most characteristic feature of this tribe are tattoos. As a trade mark honorarium a young warrior Konyak would receive a tattoo on his chest, which was a high social privilege and only the best and the bravest warriors had tattooed chests.
Another traditional sign and the biggest trophy is a tattoo on the face of a warrior, only when he bore to the king the head of an enemy.
They were very cheerful and motley people, everyone between 85 to over 100 years of age had great fun in our presence, and we together with them, they said “We are very happy to meet people from everywhere around the world and tell them about our lives,’ they says, ‘we are glad they come and are interested in learning about our traditions. We only hope that they understand us, and are respectful.’
People consider hunting to be barbaric, it is important to understand that these were not random acts of violence for entertainment. According to the old animistic beliefs of Nag, the head was considered a source of life and energy; it was believed that cutting the head would lead to good harvest and prosperity of the whole village.
It’s like today’s religion, everyone believes the other, and the one who believes is able to do much and believe in even more.
As time passes and generations grow old, Nagaland’s tribal culture and history go further and Christianity introduced the second extreme. The truce between the tribes can be good, but the death of culture is almost as tragic as the death of human.
It was an honor to meet so many of them still living and at the same time strange and sad feeling to say goodbye to them probably forever.

‘ANGH’ Each visit to the new village starts with a courteous visit to the main “Angh”. The head of Nag’s position is passed from father to son. Most of the old “Angh’s” (kings or leaders) of Konyak’s Naga are already dead, “and most of the new kings are a young generation only addicted to opium
